    The average library book lasts about 8 years. I'm not trying to argue with your point of considering cost effectiveness... I'm just correcting a detail. Books that last in the 20 to 50 year range are not average but they do exist.

    I'm having difficulty finding a Mozilla source stating they will have future mp3 support. This is still unverified in my eyes due to some of the arguments you brought up.

    I'm not experiencing leaks like that either. I would check what cruft you may have in your installation and how much caching you have it set to do.

    Well as said there are lots of options but that is beyond the basic root. I tend to point people to this wiki and just say use the autonooter for your version: http://nookdevs.com/NookColor_Rooting Step by step. If a person can't follow that... then they should pay the couple hundred more and get something else.

    But as I pointed out... it doesn't have limited ram in comparison to his baseline device it has equal to the Galaxy Tab and twice as much as the iPad. Which makes it comparatively on the high end as far as tablets of that generation.

    In addition the processor can be clocked faster than the default under-clock the device comes with. I get a quandrant score of 1164 which is slightly better than the Galaxy Tab's score of 1064.

    There are other differences such as having 3g and bluetooth out of the box but that doesn't play into the speed scenario. Those are the features you should be looking at to weigh the price increase.

    I remember back in the old days when this place was filled with geeks that were knowledgeable of device specs and hacked every device out there.

    Lesson finished, get... off... my... lawn!!!

    If the individual inputted as having an unhealthy lifestyle such as heavy smoker with lack of exercise did the study show them as dead or suffering at these older ages? I've seen many 50 year olds that looked worse than my 70 year old father-in-law due to how they took care of themselves.

    Just other food for thought.

    Well he is talking about on a rom. I have found video playback to be fine on default root. Bluetooth is not officially supported so that should be a consideration. It was a major win that it could be unlocked later at all.

    The Nook Color has the same amount of ram as the Galaxy Tab. I don't know what you are talking about there.

    In addition rooting allows overclocking the Nook Color which greatly increases the speed.

    Booksellers in Barnes and Noble often seem to point out that it can be rooted to any "geeky" individuals they notice browsing the device.

    I went with the Nook Color. I found the apps I like to have going constantly make use of the ram the NC has. Though I have noted many that the Pandigital is sufficient for them. It really depends on what you plan to do with it.

    That's only if you are a geek that sucked into the options. Just doing a basic root is extremely quick now days.

    I purchased my NookColor just after launch and preceded to root it.

    I use it for reading books, PDF's, Church Applications (a nice Scripture program), taking notes, calendaring, news apps, irc and some games.
    It experiences glitches less than my Android phone but others experience may be diffeerent.

    How is it illegal for me to want avoid these checkpoints? I'm not doing anything illegal. I just don't want an officer stopping me with out probable cause and I like to avoid all attempts other wise.

    By law in my state at least this is all public information that has to be posted before such a check point can take place. My understanding is that this is true in most states.

    remove it permanently is the only one I see not compatible. All the others I use and they work fine. I can't say how well it will rollback on Windows. Linux works fine for me here.

    As a user of Google voice and Sprint my ears automatically perked up for this article. At the same time I am unsure if I would actually use it. I have enjoyed having Google voice and I tend to give out the number for people that demand a home number or those that are more public.... business contacts, ect. The separate number is a feature for me to act as my fake business/home number so that I am not giving my cell number out to everyone.

    The Optimus V is an Android phone. It has been rooted and has custom roms. The phone in this particular case is not very locked down. I have an Optimus S from Sprint and love it for the price (same phone, different network).

    The linked article says "A new study from open source services vendor OpenLogic reports that 71 percent of Apple iOS and Google Android apps are not in compliance." So I guess they ARE saying around 177,500 iOS apps are also offenders.

    But I am taking the whole article with some skepticism.
