Normally we have around -15C to -25C and 50 cm deep snow here in Sweden in the winter. This winter we have no snow at all, and the temperature is around 5-10C.
I have never experienced something like this in my whole life. I have never experienced a christmas without snow, except for this one.
A new 'user account control' system tries to protect you from yourself, so you don't accidentally make changes to important system settings without being warned first. However pressing the 'ok' button lets you do whatever you want anyway, and experienced users will just be annoyed. What did I do? I turned it off completely and am not bothered by it anymore. You'll probably do the same, too.
Yeah, I just tried this new thing called Linux or Ubuntu or something, they use the same kind of security, called sudo or something. It annoys me so I just log in as root, as the author recommends.
That sudo thing is only to protect the computer from yourself.
We've had this in Sweden for some years, a register called "NIX" (which means something like "nope").
I think it works pretty well but not 100%.
It's really easy to sign up, just call a number, enter your home phone number and confirm.
The $130 s939 Opteron 144 would kill all competition if it was in the test, it even overclocks to over 3GHz with standard cooling and default vcore, performs like a FX-57.

Seriously, I thought this was already widely known.
All info from the client to the tracker is sent with basic HTTP GET requests.
You could fake your ratio with a simple php script.
Well, maybe even by just typing the info in your web browser, however I think the urlencoding would be a problem.
All these research by MS funded institutions and researchers, Alexis de Tocqueville etc... It's to predictable.
Do people actually believe anything they're saying?
At least this time they didn't claim Torvalds isn't the father of Linux.
Nope, and I'm wondering if he did actually brake this protection, or if he's the first to do it.
What about DeDRMS and iOpener?
And what about this? http://www.daeken.com/2004/08/24/itunes/
Again, APB (Anti-Piracy Bureau) is not a law-enforcement bureau, it's not connected to the government in any way. It's a lobby organisation for the film and music industry.
Strangely, they get the police to do whatever they tell them, they even appear on site at the same time as the police during busts.
The police even recommended on their website that piracy crimes should be reported to APB, not the police.
...should be a driver license for WLAN, how many percent of the WLAN users have actually even opened the config page?
I'm not sure what I would do, either steal bandwidth from your neightbour or try changing to a channel 'out of range'.
I agree with you, my grandmother uses Dreamweaver for her website (she's selling boring antique stuff:), sure it's a great application for her.
But since it doesn't generate correct HTML 4.0 and XHTML code, it's nothing for me.
Actually, I work faster when I write my stuff instead of looking for buttons hidden in some menu.
I guess it's great for some people...

I have a 100/100 Mbps connection but I only get about 93-95 Mbps, I hate my ISP...
Suicide by regex? preg_match("/^([123456789][[:digit:]]{3})-(0[1-9]| 1[012])-(0[1-9]|[12][[:digit:]]|3[01]) (0[0-9]|1[0-9]|2[0-3]):([0-5][0-9]):([0-5][0-9])$/ ", $date, $part)
What do they mean with 'too fat' when it fits on a floppy?

Why no socket 939 Opteron 144 in the test?

$500 for domains would only have an impact on ordinary users, the scammers and bad guys make alot of money and could afford that easy.
Which newer motherboard does not support flashing your BIOS in Windows? Oops, forgot, this is slashdot, you don't use Windows.
Yes, the exploding computer function requires ActiveX and non standard compliant code to work properly.
Why not let Google take over the DNS responsibility, then we'll know it'll be run properly at least...

I hate those smilie popups which seems to be unblockable, please make them go away.

he wrote the GUI for the DVD decryption tool he's famous for, he didn't break CSS.

Nah, you get home from work 3 microseconds earlier than before :)
And you got no humor.
That's what he said, 50%, it's either 100% or 0%.
