Ugh, 'Club Mario' was the worst. I don't remember much of it thankfully, but I never understood how two surfer-type dudes could get all excited about some Italian plumber cartoon. I'm feeling sick just thinking about it.
Now, I may be confusing this with another show, but if I'm not,'Club Mario' has had a lingering affect on my life. They ended the show with the phrase "Peace, Love, and Recycle". The peace and love parts are ok, but even as a kid, I was so angry at the show that I vowed to never recycle in spite of it. I've held true to my word, and haden't really thought about why I hate recycling till just now. 'Club Mario' or not, it's getting the blame.
The idea of traveling is great and all, but seriously, there's a lot of opportunity in going straight to University, and exploring your options there. There's always the option of studying abroad, which I HIGHLY reccomend if you have the bug to go see Europe or Asia or whatever. Not only will you get to see what you want to see, you'll be that much closer to the ultimate goal, graduation!
Travel aside, University is an experience that I am grateful every day for having done, and would repeat again in an instant. I often have dreams about quitting my job and going back to school, and I like my job! Do yourself a favor and go, don't think twice, try everything that comes your way no matter what, and in the end you may even have a few good memories to reflect on along with an education.
Being reminded of what its like to be a child is great and all, but I want to remember what its like to be a teenager staying out after dark, getting in fights with people bigger than me, thinking I can change the world by myself. This new Zelda looks like it may feed my mind in that respect.
Would have modded this up if I had the points. Unfortunately I don't.
Too many people in this industry whore out their skills for far too little compensation, and the idea of a subsidized rate is just outrageous. My advice would be give him two weeks and tell him to maybe actually hire a staff so one person leaving isn't so devastating.
Don't mod this up, it's just a rant from someone tired of seeing people get burnt by employers who don't take IT/Development seriously.
Video games only seem to sell out at video game stores on launch day. I've gotten those 3 titles on launch day (WoW CE even), a Nintendo DS, and various other games/system dating back a good 9 or so years without preordering, ever.
I remember the first time I encountered the idea of preordering. I went to my local EB to pick up a copy of Fighter Maker for the PS (yes, crapfest, I know). They had several copies in the case behind the counter, but wouldnt sell one to me because I didn't preorder. It was rather late in the day, clearly those copies were going to sit there all night, but their only response was to come back tomorrow and buy it. How they could pass up an easy sale on a non-so-hot game suprised me, but they wouldn't budge. In the end, I walked 3 stores down and purchased a copy at a KB Toystore, no preordering, no coming back tomorrow.
My advice to everyone is do yourselves a favor and use EB, Gamestop, and the like for older/used games only. Your local Wal-mart or other retail chain will probably meet all your release day needs, whithout you lining their pockets with your hard-earned money before you can even get what you want.
