  1. Pretty Harmless Stuff, folks on FEMA Removes 9/11 Coloring Book For Children From Website · · Score: 1

Just leafed through a copy. Quite frankly, there doesn't seem to be much to complain about. It seems a worthwhile effort. Get a copy and judge for yourselves. FEMA: Put it back up. It's fine.

  2. Proof! on Quantum Setback For Warp Drives · · Score: 5, Insightful

From the article... "strongly implies that such a bubble would be unstable." Sounds like proof to me! Right. Just like it was proved impossible for planes to fly. It might indeed - eventually - prove to be impossible, or impossible to do meaningfully / reliably, but it's pretty unlikely we're in a position to make that call at this time. That's why we do research.

Yeah, they'll sue you and take your house... and then you and your bat friends will have to live in a cave! Oh, wait...

The loss of an eye isn't a gruesome and painful injury? I think Tigh would disagree.

  6. IsReasonable :== Yes on Testing IT Professionals On Job Interviews? · · Score: 1

Heck yes, it's more than reasonable. If you have a test, bring it on. I'll be glad to pass it for you. Better yet, I'll find out for myself if I can pass it... :P ----- It's not always just about the correct answers, you know. Sometimes just the willingness to take the test could be the deciding factor. Sometimes the ability to admit that you don't know everything is the deciding factor. Better to have the test (or the request!) filter out some of the more egotistical and/or fraudulent candidates.

  7. Re:To those asking... on Crime Wave Thwarted in Second Life · · Score: 1

I concur with the depiction above; for those who attempt to enjoy SL - and not simply log in to screw around there (pun not intended) - there are plenty of things to see and do... enough even for some to make some kind of living out of the proceeds (thus some seriousness needs to be applied to the question of in-world monetary security). Also, SL is vastly more fulfilling if you can contribute, whether in time, effort or activity. I'm glad to hear of Achenaar's SL experience and would eagerly second his recommendation. SL is not for everyone - and I wish it was for a few less people :D - but I'm yet another of its members and supporters.
