Seems like people are flaming me for some reason. My point was that, a lot of people don't seem to know how to believe since a lot of the stuff in the media is contradictory and a word war over who is right.

When you have two different groups of people who seem to know what they are doing and they contradict each other it's hard to get the real facts out of the noise. So I suggested people take a look for themselves in their own environment. Besides in each persons own heart they think truth is whatever they themselves lead to believe base on the facts surrounding them.

It might be a normal climate shift, it might be global warming, I dont know for sure. But I do know in my lifetime what I see now adays is a lot different than what I saw as a child. That is solid proof, so if someone says "CO2 is causing global warming" I'm going to lead a bit toward them because I can see it for myself. Though I'm willing to accept it could be a normal cycle.

I don't care what people want to label it, but things seem to be changing. And if there is a slight chance it's our fault, then I personally am trying to remedy that by not driving as much, car pooling, or doing at least my share. Granted it's won't really change much if anything, but I'm reacting in my own way with the feeling I have.

Dont' see how that is flame worthy.

The whole debate is just confusing. You have "scientists" who claim this and that, and try to debunk each others findings. While I tried to keep a mental record of it, it's just pointless.

For those of you who wonder if it's real don't listen to the news or read the papers, look outside. I live about an hour from the Canadian border so it gets pretty cold up here. This past winter we didnt get any snow till February. In fact, I saw a groundhog out on Jan 1st. Trees and shrubs in my yard were starting to to bud in early January.

While I'm not that old (under 30), when I was young I remember having a white christmas almost every year, and it started snowing in November and lasted till late Feb or March. Now we might get 1-2 snow storms a year and they tend to be small.

If this isn't global warming, I don't care. But it is messed up, and I find it hard to believe it isn't our fault.

It' still possible that some Homo Habilis evolved into Homo erectus while others remained homo habilis. Just as monkeys evolved into whatever became the H. Habilis, yet monkeys still exist.

Something I've always wondered. It's common knowledge, the .com burst "lost a lot of people money". But money doesnt go away, it just shifts. I wonder who really profited from the bubble. If someone owns a bunch of overvalued stock and sells it, then it tanks and the owns "lost everything" the person originally selling it still made a lot of money. Same with businesses, I'm sure a lot of money was spend on buildings, hardware, whatever so the people selling those must have made a lot of money.

A real bubble exploding in my view is just a massive transfer of money from one market (or segment) to another. Am I wrong if so what is the reality of the situation?

While I agree with you, it's the price of doing business. There is a reason why managers are anal. Because every freaking letter and dotted i counts. This would be the same effect if you picked up the Sunday paper and found Best Buy selling a $1000 laptop for $100. Those flyers are designed and setup 6months to a year in advance. People make sure there aren't mistakes at great lengths because "you have to sell for the marked price"

So if I was a small company, I would make pretty sure every last 0 was on there before posting.

Most of those companies died out, and people are more cautious with their money. Most of the new companies and ones who survived are service related. Those can live on, and whether it's AJAX or the next big tech, it doesnt matter. If you fill a real niche and make a solid product you will survive. If you're a new company living in an AJAX web 2.0 dream thinking you're cool, and hiding behind some pretty effects but no real substance you're in for a long trip. This is true for any business.

MOsix/PVM/MVP, etc are all technologies that can allow people to use "the old labs computers" as a cluster, or get funding for some new hardware that's becomes a cluster.

After reading the patent the one thing that popped in my mind that is "similar" to the Cell concept is the idea of having 1 master node CPU to help direct the remaining CPU's.

While most dual/quad systems, the program or OS itself takes care the threading. With Cell and apparently this patent the master CPU helps take care of that. Still not a very patent. As the concept of a master node and slaves nodes for parallel processing has been around for decades. Just those tend to be 1 computer acting as a master with other slave "computer" nodes. Just in this patents case they're replacing "computer" with "CPU"

    Personally I hope Sony wins.
