Or rather the MPAA arranges for you to be hit by a bus so they don't have to pay royalties to make a movie out of your work of fiction. Perhaps the RIAA wants one of their artists to cover your song and make for them a ton of money. A set copyright term prevents bumpung off artists to make a profit.

It isn't supposed to be a search for drugs, they are not on the list of things prohibited by the FAA, illegal certianly but the TSA are not in fact law enforcement. They have the right to alert law enforcement if they see drugs the same way you are free to report illegal activity to the police but searching for them is not part of their mandate, neither is searching through someone's private papers, counting their cash, checking the photos on their digital camera...

read the boss by mike royko, it's a biography of Richard Dailey Sr and pretty well explains how things still work in chicago. Daliey isn't the same man as his father but he weilds the same power and the system is just as corrupt. Chicagoans don't really think too much of it though. It's accepted as how life is.

    > but how to you "induce" someone to commit an illegal act? If the person has criminal tendencies they are (eventually) going to do something criminal

it's called entrapment. You can't go up to someone and ask them if they'll break a law and then arrest them when they say yes. An example would be a police offer walking up to a prostitute and saying I'll givew you $100 to have sex with me. The theory is it was your idea to break the law they would have never considered it otherwise.

It only applies when an agent of the police does it.
