I'm writing based on the assumtion you were "let go" but not as part of a mass lay off.
Dumb middle managers often do this, if you say anything against something they've done or approved they store it away & you're first out the door when they need to cut costs.
Some people just nod, agree & get the perks/rises...etc, sadly when these people take charge nothing ever changes, they don't question & the status quo is maintained.
Working for a small business is best, unless you work in the civil service, that's a job for life!!
The license fee is a bargain, you get the TV channels, local & national radio, the websites.
The service given through Public Service Broadcasting is immense, they can broadcast shows that no one else would look at the number of people who got a break from the BBC must be huge
The lack of ads in shows is a major bonus, I watched the first to series of 24 on BBC2 but when it moved to Sky (& had ads in it) I just got them from a mate on DVD-R
The company I work for just finished migrating a large UK government dept from NT 3.51 to W2k.
We had to upgrade them we were having problems getting printer drivers!!
Although with mainstream support for W2k going out the window this year they'll be looking at doing it all over again soon. What a great way to waste taxpayers money.

Is it just me or is all this wireless tech good for us??
Living near power lines is known to be bad, but what about Wi-Fi access points?? or mobile phone masts??
The idea of all this extra stuff floating around *almost* worries me, is having too many signals in the air going to cause long term health problems??
Well the Nintendo Wavebird controller has 16 different channels to choose from..
4 pads x 4 consoles = 16 controllers!!
There are some hot women, you just need to have drunk quite a lot first!!! (-;
