The system is currently setup so that your vote only goes "FOR" a candidate. You can achieve the same goal as an "AGAINST" vote would achieve by voting "FOR" the next largest candidate. But this will not guarantee that you are selecting someone you are for. you need to just pick who you are "FOR".
that being said, I'm kinda thinking that we really shouldn't have a "president". maybe we should just vote in like 3 people that continually rotate the position or something. Why should we put one person in the position to screw up our country 4 years at a time. That seems like far too long now.
I don't have much experience in politics, so I'm not saying I know everything. I am just saying, "Who says that is has to be the way it is right now?" -a sentiment that I hope our forefathers would appreciate.
I just wanted to throw in my view for a second (thats what we do around here anyways).
I bet there are people around here that might not mind having the environment get a little warmer. Who is to say that beachfront property in the middle of the US isn't desirable.
Some people might like it a little cooler too. So if we all stop producing any CO2 and find new ways to make it colder, it would be nice to not have to run the AC all summer.
The point I am trying to make is that argument can go either way. The people that are intelligent enough to look at the available information will do so. They will draw their own conclusions and they will use their system of ethics and morals to decide a personal course of action that may include lobbying for reform.
The media is just like the annoying 13 year old that will say ANYTHING just so that he can get a rise out of you. Just kick him in the groin and get on with your day!
As long as someone can sell X units of Y product of service that costs less than X * Y to provide, then they will try to get that business model off the ground (pun intended).
If we can make a wheel, we can make 2.
If we can make 2, we can make a bicycle.
So if we finally can get a commercial program to send up 3 people, there should be a way to get 7 people up there.
If people can scam people from their money, why can't someone raise money for an X-Prize type prize?
submitter should not ask loaded questions in their submission... but oh yeah, I forgot. we haven't yet learned any manners...
I have some good real questions, but upon thinking about it, I would just like them to admitt that they are doing "what they think is best" by using their own frame of reference. But what they should be doing is to judge their actions based on an impartial or at least multi-faceted viewpoint.
The Recording Industries keep mentioning how much money that they have to spend to market their music... Well, let me explain why. If you play a crappy song for me and then ask me if I like it, I'll say no. And if you play a crappy song for me 1000 times, I'll still say I don't like it. BUT..., if you pay people that I or my peers respect to say that they like it and then play it 1000 times, I will LIE and say that I like it.
That is part of their problem, they need to get the songs that people like without any payola. That is what I thought they used to do. That is why so many artists never make it to "big time".
I say, no one buy a damn thing from them because no one really likes their music anyways
I know that law is all hard and stuff (why else would we keep using IANAL?) but I would watch out for any hacker turned laywer...
Aren't most hackers just people that are awesome at looking at a system and finding its weaknesses? So what is keeping him from finding a way to do anything he wants. Maybe nothing...
Normally I think we should be wary of lawyers and of hackers, but a hacker turned lawyer... WATCH OUT!
of course, I could just be using a outdated, preconcieved notion to judge someone that is doing good for us all
What you do get though, is that transportation is free/cheap on a per person basis. If you need to transport freight, its on a per pound basis.
What the city would do is to automate or control all of the transportation from a central system. Wether the transportation is busses, subways, taxis , a tube or something that flys, is up to the implementation.
until all the details are worked out, most people can drive to parking hubs, and then take the transportation from there. then the city can spread the cost of the program amongst everyone.
If you don't like the idea of a city running it, then replace by a private company or organization. It could be a plus to draw employee's or residents or even tourists...
I just wanted to pose the question, how can you prove that it has not been tampered with?
You can't measure anything without changing the state, right? So you shouldn't really be able to prove that its secure either.
Anyone else think that this is BS?
It is an interesting concept, but do we really need this?
We already have voice recognition, this tech will just bring it to everything. You can talk to your keys, your toaster, your watch.
But will they have anything interesting to say back?
Guys, if its pay per view,
wouldn't it stay on your Tivo until you VIEW it?
and if you watch it again, you pay AGAIN?
otherwise they need to think about calling it PAY-PER-LIMITED-TIME-PERIOD-WINDOW or more simply PPLTPW.
Jeez...
Anyone who has been frustrated by a lack of production-quality free RAD environments...
seems like maybe a comma might help...
duh!

Angels bite the priests.
An empty, yellow moon sets.
Sad plundered smoke works.
;-P
Of course we think it will happen.
