    As an added bonus, once people buy into this we can start selling the next level: you have to pay extra for a "forever" license to drive (where forever is "as long as we are in business") or you can rent the car on a monthly/yearly basis. Oh and by the way, the car only works on our toll roads.

    What they did not look at was the effect of using herbicides and pesticides on health.

    Or how about the impact of herbicides and pesticides on the land on and around the farm where the food is grown? It isn't just about the food itself; personally I think that food that isn't making the surrounding environment toxic is healthy for me and my kids too.

    Mostly I would promote beatings and the pillory for people who put classified information on a computer that is ever connected to the internet. This would be on top of the usual loss of clearances and everything else that would already happen now.

    As far as I know, anyplace that has sensitive documents like this has a dedicated security officer. Now picture being that guy, while people you have trained do exactly what you told them NOT to do and put things on every kind of media known to humankind and then inadvertently carry sensitive stuff home and and dump it on their machine running Limewire. Yes USB thumb drives are restricted (some places go so far as to seal USB ports to make sure people don't stick unauthorized drives into the machines) but morons are surprisingly cleaver at actively circumventing the best laid plans to keep them leaking information.

    Of course there is also the nice happy possibility that the data was collected via some other means and was leaked to Limewire from the machine of some spy.

    Actually there was a detailed log of the whole thing chiseled into ice tablets that... are no longer around for some reason.

    Take a look at all the other decisions you have ever made (pink mohawk, tattoo on your left cheek, buying a Ford Pinto). Now pretend like you pick out your "perfect date". Now guess how likely it is you will actually pick someone who is compatible with you, especially since you a) don't know what their traits would be and b) are basing your decision on if they have red hair or not.

    Exactly; I figure the response should be equal to the error. Not only could I get quite a bit of scream therapy with the operator working off that kinda money, but my great great grandkids could too.

    The thing is if the economy tanks that badly, gold probably won't be worth much either. Which is why buying large boxes of ammo, cigarettes, and toilet paper is the way to go!

    getting frustrated on a game level
    a controller breaking

    Yeah I'm thinking the screening process will be pretty thorough for a Mars mission.

    I wonder how gung-ho politicians would be about this law if people started parking outside their houses and using their wireless to download illegal content? Because at least some of them have to have poorly configured or otherwise insecure WAPs.

    Or, keep just enough people on the upgrade treadmill that other people who absolutely have to be able to read the documents of these people are forced to buy the latest version of Microsoft Office. If your client, who pays your bills, insists on using the latest Microsoft Office, then most places will see it as simply easier to upgrade. Especially if your client is a government agency.

    It's a very significant problem.

    Very true, so now we need to figure out the best course of action. Screwing with weather patterns probably isn't the best (or even cheapest) solution.
