The proposal seems to focus upon attending Congress from their home district. That's the wrong direction. Sitting in the home district office and telecommuting to Congress means that both sides are basically in fixed locations. Wouldn't it be better to be fixed in a location in Congress and be able to telecommute "to" various locations in the home district, seeing many constituents on their home turf?
... the updates did not add data collection. One application I am using requires me to install google analytics when I upgrade the application. So I stopped upgrading it. Then there is Windows 10, if I upgrade to Windows 10, I turn my PC into a Microsoft data collection machine. If you want to know a reason why some do not upgrade, ask the software providers who put egregious data collection into their upgrades.

I've been skeptical about facebook for years now. I've tried warning my friends, especially those who seem to live in facebook, about the perils. I was all but ignored. (btw, in my comment, when I said "we" it was more of "the general public" "we" than anything else.)
Too bad that Netflix doesn't offer a streaming service that offers only non-original content, avoiding the cost of the "huge investment in original shows and films."
I'm not saying that there is no use for background processes that benefits the users. But maybe google is locking things down in order to go after the data harvesters, and those who use the background processes for valid purposes can continue to do so (once they fix their code to work properly).
Still marking facts as flamebait. So sad for the current crop of mods, hiding like a coward behind the mod flags, instead of posting a comment or question. When I used to mod (and supermod) I used to avoid using the mod capability to affect my opinion upon the comments, when I marked a comment as flamebait, it truly was flamebait, not just an opinion i disagreed with.
And to those so-called "mods" who thought my fact-based comment was a troll or flamebait, you really need to check upon the demographics of the Fox New channel (you did do that check before you downgraded my comment, didn't you?). Those demographics tilt towards the over-65 age group, compared to the other news channels.

FTFY:
that successfully sells buggy software.
Hmmm... I wonder who the "we" is? Does Microsoft plan to bring their amazing Windows 10 quality processes to Open Source?

Useful background processes that are useful for whom? The developers who want to harvest data continuously?
It does not remove age spots, it hids them with makeup. And why is this advertisement on /.?

What you cite is very interesting. So, without even trying, they seem to have correlated fake news with the Fox News audience.
That seems to correlate with the age of the Fox News audience.

Or will it be something that the consumer "finds out" after starting to use Windows 10?
If the answer is no, then do not expect a fix from google anytime soon.
It is dangerous on a bicycle on the public roads nowadays.

I hope Amazon treats the accumulated data with integrity.
