That's exactly what I was thinking. I don't think that the internet is quite ready for this kind of service. The bandwidth just isn't up to snuff yet.
Also, what's the difference between this and Pay-per-view? If the current system would upgrade to make more movies available, then there wouldn't be a need for Netflix to even do this at all...
I still am feeling mighty surprised that the video rental industry is slowly dying off. They really screwed themselves with that whole "late fee" thing. For all who don't know, that's where the real money was in rentals... Until, companies like Netflix made it much more cost effective for consumers to use their service.
I have always wanted an original model of a Tie Fighter. I'm sure there must be a few of those around. But, short of inventing a time machine so I could steal one before the crew got them all, I doubt I'll ever even lay eyes on one.
It seems to me that Doubleclick will do anything to protect their little corner of the marketplace.
I hate all the advertising. I block everything I can. But, I do understand why it exists... I just ignore whatever makes it through.
In any case... If you're going to blame anyone for all the ads, and all the email SPAM, blame the people who actually respond to those ads!

I know that ILM uses a very customized version of Maya. In fact, I'm quite sure that's the weapon of choice among most houses.
