i got a lowe rate because i am a member of a credit union with excellent credit. this is not dealer finance. i also played 3 dealers against each other to get the car below invoice - through email. it is amazing what you can get a new car for if you work at it.

now, if someone has all of their credits cards maxed out, pays the min and opens more, that is a problem. credit is a tool to be used properly. i paid cash for my first vehicle, 300$ bmw motorcycle at 14. delivered papers since about 10. south dakota has an early driving age. got a better paying food service job at 16. i bought my first car at 17 (tr7 ragtop used, cheap yet nice) when i had more than enough to cover it in savings / investments. i got a loan for the car. came out ahead. i guess growing up poor in a rural area can do something for managing money.

that is exactly what they do. pricing is based on production costs with profit based on how many people are willing to pay a certain price. the sweet spot is maximizing the amount of profit of a product so that the most people by it at the highest price. just because you are unwilling to pay a price doesnt mean it is too high. i think 15-20 bucks is a decent price for a lifetime of 45-70 minutes of music. 9.75 is a bit much for most movies so i wait until it hits the cheap theaters, which are cheaper than renting it, w/ better quality than my home.
lets say a music cd costs 3$ to make. i-tunes sells a song for a buck, average 8 songs an album, 75 cents profit and a buck for a high quality disk. dont forget studio time, artists pay, marketing, and the starving artist, etc. they sell it for 20$. for an album to reach 'platinum' sales levels it needs to sell 1,000,000 copies. so at platinum an album has made 17,000,000 dollars. perhaps your threshold to buy a cd is 10$ now a record company needs to sell 2.4+ million copies to make the same amount of money. double platinum is no small task. i for one, wouldnt buy much of the stuff on the multiplatinum list if it where 3 bucks, or a bunch of other music for that matter. i am willing to pay for music i like. remember, you are not the only person in the world.
that said i agree that the record companies are going about it wrong, but under the current system it is not legal to 'pirate' music. so yes, you would be a 'criminal'. the studios are lettting people know that, yes, you can get in trouble for such a thing. it hurts the companies on many levels.

The local station is one of the "big" stations in the area, and they claim to "play what you want". They also advertise that they are the only hard rock station in the area. Rage Against the Machine is hard rock.
big probably refers to market share and play what you want is directly related to that. so yeah, ther are most likely playing what you want (you being the majority of listeners.) i think rage is considered 'alternative metal'.
i wish i had more context about your local station. one of the 'hard rock' stations out here in denver plays rage, nin, zepplin, sabbath etc. another plays poison, whitesnake, gnr, etc. 'hard rock' is a broad term and the bands it covers almost depends on the decade.

you are either a). unware of your local music scene or b). live in a small town where there is little to no music scene. if the answer is b). look online. lots of no-name bands unrelated to record companies have music out there that you can purchase from their websites. you can pay them for their efforts so they dont have to close saturday nights at a low paying job instead of performing.
