I would agree with your fact about coal, if you totally ignore that the easiest-mined coal has already been removed from the ground. Plus we don't know how much we have left, since determining the location and depth and size of a coal seam requires drilling into the ground. which is time-consuming and expensive and that only proves reserves, you still need to get the coal out of the ground.
And coal is hardly ready for use out of the ground. You get to remove rock and dirt. Then you get to wash and blend the coal depending on your target market. Finally you get to deliver it, so you have to somehow find a barge or rail line close enough to make it econimically feasable to mine the stuff in the first place.
But otherwise, great point about coal.
For an american company to pursue civil action, they would have to file a civil case in their local courts. The defendant must be served by the plaintiff's counsel who send the documents, along with a USM-94 form (from a US Marshal), to the designated central autohrity in the foreign country. Here is the procedue for the state of New York. All in all it is a process that must go throught the proper foreign diplomatic channels.
Any lawsuit would be a headache, because the crime was technically comitted in Germany (virus released), but the damamge was done here in the United States. Since he is still fairly young, his future wages could be garnished to repay the plantiff.
The virus was released ON his 18th birthday (April 29, 2004). He was tried as a minor because the german courts determined that he created the virus before he was 18. He wasn't arrested days before his 18th birthday as the parent says.
From the Article:
"Sven Jaschan avoided a jail sentence by the skin of his teeth because he was arrested within days of his 18th birthday,"
So he was arrested before he released the virus? When did Germany get their pre-crime division up and running?

Versions of CF less than 5 years old pretty much spank PHP. As soon as it got first-class UDFs, the power really expanded. CFCs are super. PHP gives you much easier access to some a lot of low-level functions (file manipulation is a pain in CF), but CFs modularity (what? There's more than just includes?) and stuff like the cfquery/DB abstraction layer is far superior to PHPs.
okay bullshit. How is registering each odbc connection really a layer of abstraction? Plus what about sql nuances between databases? Try using a real abstraction layer like Pear with php. You just give it a database and login info and you are good to go. That is abstraction.
Why would a bank or credit card ever have prudence in loaning. This is where they generate fees. Even if a mortgage company processed a fake application, they still collect loan origination fees, who cares if someone stole your identity to do it, that is your problem.
Microsoft is running out of places to find new revenue. We all know that the OS market has matured back in 90s so we see them enter a ton of new markets trying to boost revenues and spur the growth of stock. Here is the most basic formula I use when looking at a "growth" stock.
Revenue Growth = Stock Price Growth
Naturally if the growth of expenses exceed the revenue growth it hits the bottom line, but most investors don't dig that deep and the stock price will continue to rise.
Microsoft needs to enter these new markets to keep stock price moving in a positive direction. I mean what is sexier; a company that makes $9 Billion every quarter, or a company that will make $4 Billion this quarter and add a billion of sales every quarter, which stock would you buy?
I tired Netflix in 99 and had a horrible experience, but I think that was due to the fact they had one distribution center. After receiving my first 3 movies at once I watched them all and sent them all back at the same time. Netflix claimed they never received them, so I had to wait 2 weeks to see if they would ever receive them, which they never did. I hear they fixed that part of the service now, but I still haven't gone back.
With PlayStation, PlayStation 2 and PSP(TM) (PlayStation(R) Portable), SCEI will continue to expand the market and create a new world of computer entertainment.
Have they made anything new for the PlayStation in the past 3 years? Or do they think making it smaller is a breakthrough.
They won't even have to bother with tickets once the government issues a national id card. Just swipe your card to get into the stadium, pay for beer, and lap dances after the game.

Will this be compatible with all my PS2 games?
