The real advantage is to free software. ImageMagick and the like have supported gif for a while, but I'm not sure of the legality until now. And I remember there was a time when GD was forced to drop support.
I agree as well. Sure you CAN learn by using a computer, but they are entertainment/communication devices now. And we are requiring them in classrooms? In my 4 years getting a CS degree, I never needed a laptop in class, let alone when I was in the 8th grade. I think I turned out okay.
There's a lot of talk here about Steal This Book, but I just thought I'd give a shout to System of a Down for standing up to the RIAA with at least one album. There wasn't a huge controversy over book stealing with the former was released.:D
I think the almost scroll wheel will hurt them. Anyone who buys that is going to be very aware that all their friends have a very similar device with a wheel that actually does wheel-like things. And if it's the same price as an iPod, I think most people would rather go for the original. No-one cares about wi-fi or an FM radio when it looks like a Wall Mart special iPod ripoff.
Yeah, because my boss loves it when I tell him that all we need to do is get all our users to switch browsers.
Personally, I'm leaving all my IE 6 hacky crap alone. If it breaks in IE 7, oh well, it'll work great in Firefox.
They're giving away huge amounts of bandwidth for free. If I stood out in the street and started handing out 20-dollar bills, there would probably be a line 4 blocks long in half an hour. I would have the most popular "business" in town! The growth would be exceptional! I'll worry about how to make money on it later...
Yea, I'm really pissed that I bought my Core 1 MacBook. As soon as the Core 2 ones come out, I'll have to live with the fact that the new ones... uh... encode video faster. How exactly will the new processor affect the performance of the machine again? Oh yea, that's right, except on paper, probably not at all.
Apple doesn't actually sell its music with any DRM on it. ITunes adds that later since it has to be tailored to each user. If these DVDs are going to have Apple DRM on them, it's going to need iTunes, or something like it, to encrypt it.
Are you feeling underappreciated?

In a way, yes. Private money comes from the wealthiest citizens who therefor have the most resorces to succeed in their education.
Political correctness? The min-90s called. They want their scapegoat back.
So this is where all the chips are going.
I would have never thought that people would choose to move under their own power rather then be hauled around in an upright wheelchair for the lazy.

Define your acronyms, please. Is World of Warcraft now providing internet access?
I love that song, damnit!

I think any company with the motto "porn for everyone" is going to succeed marvelously, actually.

If you bought four more computers, you would already have 4 more licences. They are just making it easier to upgrade all the Macs in your house.
And X.264 is much better then Apple's implimentation. Yeah, it really sucks that the Quicktime source is closed. :D

Everything I have read says that Merom draws the exact same power as Core 1.
Print that article out, and it will be on paper. ;)

I totally agree. I like to compile my projects by hand sometimes just to make sure I'm not reliant on my C compiler.

Amazon ships all their free shipping that way. And I have about 5 CDs a week shipped to me courtesy of Half.com on USPS.
Not to mention that I can put DVDs on my iPod or computer for that long plane ride. I'll stick with CDs and DVDs as long as possible.
Yeah! If I want to beat my kids, what business does the government have telling me that I can't?
