    You can't close the source, because it still consists of machine instructions, which are rather easy to reverse engineer by a moderately experienced individual. Copyright doesn't make any difference between open and closed source however.

    And you can't get a patent on something that has been publicized before, unless it has been published as a patent in another country.

    You can already patent (really novel) software, as long as you can put it in the form of an industrial application. And if you have a lot of time and money to spare (getting a world patent costs about 150000-250000 dollar and 3 years of procedures).

    This is what I consider one of the breakthroughs of the 90's. It is just not practical enough (or something) for the big guys, but it is an easy explanation for every physical phenomenon; very very interesting.

    next time you write a hello world program, make sure you write a custom OS with it and don't forget the thousands of drivers you'll need

    You don't need thousands of drivers; there is a 'println' in the bios which can be called using 2 bytes, so even if you would have no OS (which you don't need because you don't use concurrency or resource management), a hello world program would still consist of a few dozen bytes.

    However, sharing or re-using code should become common practise, because it hardly is.

    an lcd screen filters light from a backlight emitting the full light spectrum plus some heat. Since colors are blocked (absorbed) most energy will be lost as heat radiation.

    Leds only emit at 1 light frequency and therefore use a lot less energy.

    There is nothing new about this; it is already possible for years to dynamically load javascript without refreshing by simply setting the src attribute of the script tag to a php/asp/etc.-generated javascript.

    This is common practice, nothing new here; change the src attribute of a javascript block and it will be loaded and executed automatically (at least in IE).

    There is quite strong proof of large flying reptiles and dinosaurs before our time. Therefore I think it must be possible for men to conceive a tool to be able to fly using their own power.
