  5. Well, obviously on Brazil Announces Plans To Move Away From US-Centric Internet · · Score: 1, Insightful

It makes it much easier to spy on your own citizens when you do that. They are just mad they don't have a piece of the action.

  6. When you have a govt that regulates *everything* on How Car Dealership Lobbyists Successfully Banned Tesla Motors From Texas · · Score: 2

All of that regulation is for sale. The more power the govt has, the more it will be up on the auction block to the highest bidder. A more powerful govt is the last thing anyone should want.

  7. Stupidity != sexism on Sexist Presentations At Startup Competition Prompt TechCrunch Apology · · Score: 4, Insightful

Breaking news: men are fascinated with breasts. It is pretty much universal and isn't sexist.

Obviosuly their display in front of children was uncalled for.

But something to do with gender doesn't mean it is sexist. It is killing what true sexism is, real discrimination.

  15. How is that an "upshot"? on Uber Tip-Skimming Allegations Could Spark National Class Action · · Score: 4, Insightful

So, this woman is very successful at class action suits. So, she has made millions of dollars herself, getting back pennies on the dollar for those who were actually harmed. And Uber is the claimed crook?

  16. Re: Free market on Vermont Yankee Nuclear Plant To Close In 2014 · · Score: 1

  17. I hate the startup "culture" on Silicon Valley's Loony Cheerleading Culture Is Out of Control · · Score: 5, Interesting

I am "bootstrapping" my latest venture and we are Doing quite well. But, I simply can't stand to talk to other startups. It is always "how much money we raised" or "how much are you raising" - the conversations never are about how much cash you are making and how many paying customers you have.

There is a lot of allure to raising money and a lot of back patting, which is why I just can't stand them.

  18. Why aren't more women in science fields? on Could a Grace Hopper Get Hired In Today's Silicon Valley? · · Score: 3, Informative

Yes, easy to blame evil men for everything - keeping Grace Hopper from getting a job in Tech in 2013 (Assuming she wasn't dead).

In the 80's, women made up most of CS programs around the country. When I went in 2000 - they made up a handful of the entire class. But, engineering was the same (for all engineering majors).

There isn't some evil conspiracy to prevent women from entering tech (some of the best innovators in tech I know are women). They simply, for whatever reason, aren't interested in it.
