Nah, the DPJudge http://www.floc.net/dpjudge/ is already ideal for online play.

Some wikis can be very useful. Take, for example, the wikis that often go on the sites of opensource projects. They often contain info that is just not suitable for Wikipedia.

Ever heard of bigband music? Especially at jazz festivals, it is not unusual to see bigbands with 20+ members...

  4. Re:Reversal of Cause and Effect on California Passes Violent Games Bill · · Score: 0

Very true! I remember that when I went through some bad days in high-school, playing a game of UT always made me feel a lot better. Admittedly, I would not be someone who would actually commit violence, but I can imagine that it will work the exact same way for many potentially violent people.

That engineered sound is not caused by the better equipment, but by the requirement that songs are more "accessible" (ie, commercial). For a big record company, a great raw-sounding 10-minute track with some awesome soloing is just a too big risk to take: people want 3-minute tracks with verse - chorus - verse - chorus - bridge - chorus - outro. So that engineered sound is what (unfortunately) 95% of the people want to hear.

  7. The source of Ballmer's statement on Intel Helping Asia to Use Linux · · Score: 0

According to this article, Ballmer's source is not clear at all yet. However, it might be based on this report, that states that: "283 software patents not yet reviewed by the courts could potentially be used to support claims of infringement against Linux." Not at all, as Ballmer claimed, certainly patent violations, but only patents not yet reviewed.

Where did you disable that? My parents run IE, and it's of course infected with loads of adware. If it's just a matter of clicking one checkbox, that would be very handy for them...

Therapists should be scientists first, and counsellors second. Of course they should be good at counselling, but they need to know why counselling works, and the biological bases behind psychological symptoms.

What you are talking about is neuropsychology. This branch of science that is still in an early stage, and therefore it will be almost impossible to draw this type of conclusions based on neuropsychological methods. We simply don't understand enough of how the brain works.

And what do you mean with "superstitions"? Apart from a few exceptions, modern theories on psychology are all quite well founded. Why else would there be so much money pumped into research on both human and animal behaviour? As long as you stay away from gurus and all kinds of "alternative" healers, you should be OK.
