Seriously, they're a hardware shop, and their hardware seems to fit your needs.
Sure, they could have let socially less inept people handle the situation with this Daniel guy, but of course they're in their right to make sure people comply with their license.
Oh please, a few geekz from a few forums (fora?) are annoyed with them. Big deal.
That's a pretty long way from corporate suicide, the impact on their financial situation will be a lot less noticable than, say, a lawsuit from some company they licensed code from.
I too was tempted to write a sarcastic reply, but it seems that is taken care of.
So, trying to be somewhat constructive, if you're used to XP64 with all its support issues and weird driver hacks, Vista64 wouldn't be a bad update. In my experience at least, its market share and better support from Microsoft makes it a lot more usable.
Superman is stronger than Hulk, who is stronger than Spiderman, who is stronger than Batman What the..? You got that pretty much exactly backwards!
And OSX, or anything, stronger than BeOS? What were you thinking?
Adobe Photoshop -> Aperture Heh. Not serious, are you?
Still, I agree with your point - it's far from "a moments notice", OSX has been around so long I imagine a very large part of current Mac users have never experienced MacOS Classic. (Lucky them.)
Wow, you were still hoping for a PPC Linux flash player?
Adobe/Macromedia ignoring PPC Linux folk for like ten years and Apple eventually going Intel, those things were no reason for you to give up?
In that case, I admire your optimism. You shouldn't give that up just because Adobe is slow supporting a completely different app on new-ish archs.
P.S.: Ugh, what a ghastly looking comment system. When did that happen?
Session saving? In Firefox?
Yeah, it does exist. Shame it sucks - you choose "Show my windows and tabs from last time", which should be default behaviour anyways imho, and close the window.
But oh noes, there's still this utterly useless download window open. Meaning the session didn't end, and as such wasn't saved.
Good luck trying to find all those tabs in history...
Uh, yeah. Because making a web application is a simple matter of implementing HTTP.
Makes you wonder why web browsers, the most commonly used web applications for 15 years, still are so far from being feature complete...
Consider that even if such things like the original post get removed, all you're accomplishing is the simulation of world where those things don't exist. The real problem doesn't go away - it still would be possible to give people malicious URLs through other channels, who are then more likely to click them without checking them first. After all, it's generally safe to do so.
It's desensitizing, and I think that's a lot more dangerous than feeding a few absent-minded forum readers a malicious link, shaking them up a bit.
After reading the comments further down the thread (lol) I take back the part about the generally harmless.
But there is some educational use for those links. Keep them coming, I say.
Cmdr Taco - when will you permit removal of this type of crap? Why would you want to remove it? It's part of net culture, and a (for this site's audience at least) generally harmless reminder to check where a link links to before clicking it.
Antisemitism is not an integral part of Fascism.
It's important to understand this, Fascism in itself must be recognized as such even if there's no antisemitism involved.
Except for the mixup in currency conversion - it's more like two dollars per pound, not two pounds per dollar - I totally agree with you.
Satellite navigation totally fails in most European cities I've been to, I don't see how an automatic cab would work except maybe on some well defined overland routes, like from the airport to some trainstation.
The guy was considered an relic of the late 90s pc fps era years ago. Late 90s? So you're saying the Quake3 engine wasn't highly impressive? Why was it so succesful then? Why was it used by so many games until shortly before that HL2/Doom3 year?
Note I'm not arguing for the Doom3 engine...
Since Apple went Intel, there aren't many big endian architectures around anymore. I can imagine people consider them even less now than they did seven years ago. Back then, it sucked, don't know how common the problem is these days.
But then, there's this 32 Bit vs. 64 Bit thing I sometimes find in other peoples' code. Like assuming a pointer's size to 32 Bit and doing voodoo stuff with pointer arithmetics. Annoying as hell, I tell you.
Why does it matter where the challenge lies - whether it's from the input, or the game mechanics, as long as the game's fun (and of course works correctly - a thing many PC games have some issues with for a while after release..) it shouldn't matter.
Of course, incoherent controlls are another story and fall under the "working correctly" dependency.
Everyone seems to be blaming Walmart's management or Microsoft for the decision that the gPC isn't worth selling in stores.
A while back, there was a slashdot-linked PC Magazin review of that box - and it didn't do so well. Granted, the review might have been a little biased, but not enough to dismiss it entirely.
I imagine that might be a big part of why they're not sold in stores anymore.
So you're saying Islam isn't as bad a religion as I think.
Well, seeing how a bunch of people do a lot of stupid things in the name of Islam, and I don't see the rest of the Muslim population doing much about it, I don't see why I'm the one that's supposed to make the effort of figuring out what Islam really is about.
What I know is that they basically worship a prophet that wasn't what you'd call a nice guy, and that some fanatics commit atrocities in his name.
That's quite enough for me, I'm not going to go out of my way to educate myself or even embrace the coming of the Muslim overlords, tolerance only gets you this far. I don't tolerate people that won't tolerate me.
So I'm ignorant towards religions. Okay, I don't refute this point. But, just for fun, I looked up the spread of religions in CIA's worldfactbook. Seems Hinduism is a distant third in percentage - how are they're supposed to be the largest one in terms of numbers?
And for the records, I'm not American, and the pope's name is Benedikt;)
Ever heard of overpopulation?
It's a real problem in some parts of the world, parts on which the Catholic church, via their humanitarian/missionary programs, have a lot of influence on.
They could also get rid of child molesters and stop paying (lots of) money to keep things
under wraps, which obviously is not the best way to solve the problem. Maybe not, but what are they supposed to do? Publicly admit their Holy Men to be as sin-full as everybody else, sometimes even more so? That would have a pretty high chance of causing/accelerating their downfall, and such an organization of course has some interest in selfpreservation.
I'm not convinced their downfall is a good thing either, as I prefer Christianity/Catholisim over Islamism as the leading world religion. A lot.
Sadly for Giordano Bruno, he didn't have Galileo's powerful protectors and was a bit too all-out mystical. Galileo's later refutal of his own claims - something Bruno didn't do - might have had some influence on the turn of events too..
Tech companies exagerate their product's capabilities for marketing reasons, more news at 11 or something.
Now you've shown them.
Seriously, they're a hardware shop, and their hardware seems to fit your needs.
Sure, they could have let socially less inept people handle the situation with this Daniel guy, but of course they're in their right to make sure people comply with their license.
Point is, I feel you're overreacting.

Wow, that must be annoying.
Can't reproduce it in OO 2.3.1 though, so you might want to update?
Patent infringement!
Can't you pay for those via credit or debit card?
That would most likely tie your personal details to the card ID.
