Did he say a snazzy gaming rig? No. You can buy a personal computer for $500. It may not play games as well as a PS3 but then a PS3 can't create word or excel documents as well as a PC. In fact, for $500 I could easily find a PC deal that'd throw in a printer. If you're heading off to college and considering a PS3, realizing that a very capable (except for gaming) PC can be had for the same price might make you rethink your decision.
but IF YOU DOWNLOAD IT TO YOUR COMPUTER, what's the big deal?
Because even if you download it to your computer eventually, it can fill up fast, particularly now that digital cameras make photos 2MB easy. Will grandma think it's no big deal that some of the pictures of her grandkids got bounced because she didn't check her email that weekend? It's unbelievably easy to fill up that 10MB these days. I think of my mom who loves all the forwards she gets from friends and family. I wouldn't be surprised if she got over 10MB in a single day (she only checks her email once a day).
So what's the best Wii shooter to make a comparison? While I agree that the Wii seems like it has the potential to have more precise controls, as far as I know it's all in theory as there aren't any decent first person shooters for the wii yet.
Don't get me wrong. The system is fun. It'll be the next system I end up getting. But the times I had the opportunity to play it, I wasn't blown away by it's precise controls. If anything, I felt like it wasn't quite as precise. Now that may just be me getting used to new controls but I certainly wasn't sold on the idea that this is the best system for a FPS.
I agree with this although I think it's possible that it'll act as advertising to Joe Sixpack. When they buy their windows machine they will see Linux as an option. They won't take it but later on when they hear a friend talking about the latest new thing on Linux (or when their Windows gets bogged down with spyware and other stuff and their friend suggests switching to Linux) some will think, "Oh yeah, I saw that on Dell before...you can download that for free????" It's really effective for those borderline people who might be open to trying something new but don't know enough to know where to start yet.
I'm still not sure that it'd have a huge impact as an advertiser but I can easily imagine it being somewhat less than zero.
It makes sense to me. In a game, my character may die a dozen times in the first couple hours I play it. But in the two hours I watch the movie, it's been 2 hours of living with them...and wanting them to succeed but having no power to make sure they do. That can be emotional. I've cried watching a good movie but never from playing a game. I may get frustrated playing a game. I may play it often enough that it sticks in my mind (even enough to dream about it) but the same could be said with some annoying song I hear on the radia ad nauseum. I have no emotional connection to some cheesy pop song or a tetris block but I've had both run through my mind while laying in bed whether I wanted to or not.
Just enter your credit card number and expiration date and you can use my wireless...trust me, it's that new-fangled Fon thingy...it's for your security.:)
I haven't been shopping for a wii (don't have the money at the moment) but easter weekend did seem to have a lot of adds for the wii. Most stores stopped having ads for the wii a while ago but easter weekend was the first I'd seen an ad for an actual wii system in a long time.
When I went to BYU around the start of the dot com boom, there was a lot of talk about how the women graduates were in demand and (from our school at least) they made more on average than their male counterparts. A big recruiting bullet point was the possibility that women could have kids and work from home. From what I'd heard, that didn't pan out as well as hoped and while at-home jobs ARE possible they are still far from a given and most still need to go into the office regularly. Has the ability to work from home improved significantly since those days?
When you can walk into any walmart and return the games you don't want you can get the price down to $249, I believe. It's true that the bundles keep selling out quickly...but they keep relisting it frequently.
I should add that I have an option of choosing an email provider that doesn't block any emails or put them in junk folders. In some areas there isn't really many/any options for ISPs.
Most email providers just put the spam in a separate junk folder, allowing the user to decide whether to delete it all or check first to make sure something important accidentally got placed there. I wouldn't have a problem with ISPs doing something similar with websites that may be scams/phishing. If some warning popped up that required me to click to continue (along with saving my choice for the future) I might consider it a useful feature depending on how accurate it was at spotting scams/phishing.
I would not like the ISP to just block a site outright with little to no way of getting around it. I wouldn't like my junk mail deleted automatically either.
So what are the top 10-20 Opera widgets? I enjoy opera but their widget feature is entirely unused by me. The last time I checked there was nothing worthwhile.
At my school, I stopped using the university provided email address because often the emails from professors often didn't get through. I heard from other students that this was common among university emails and I've since switched to my gmail address and haven't had any problems since. I don't know why the problem happens so often with the university emails but just last week I heard it happened to a newer student and the professor said the same thing: It happens sometime with university email addresses. You might want to switch to another email address.
You guys do realize that Sony will be constantly upgrading the software emulation, thus allowing for more games and perhaps even added features (better anti-aliasing and such), right?
Which is why Europeans will get much better emulation, games, and features, right? They've been constantly upgrading since it first launched in Japan.
The only thing that Sony's done here that was unexpected was removing part of the hardware emulation for the European models so early.
Few would care if it happened after a real price cut. By that time, many more games would be coming out for PS3 than PS2.
DVD upscaling to 1080p? A universal remote with picture mode settings? Not a whole lot but I can imagine picking the standalone player if I wanted blu ray and wasn't into games at all...especially if they cost the same. But the PS3 cost significantly less then I could imagine my choice changing.

We all know that when smart kids "misbehave" it's the teacher's fault because the smart kids were bored. /sarcasm

NBC doesn't mix well with Opera in general. I normally use Opera on my laptop but I had to open up IE to watch past Heroes episodes.

until the laser gives out.
I don't own a PS2 but I hear that they definitely don't last forever.
That's not to slam Sony in any way. I personally own a dreamcast and am about to start looking for a replacement unit.
I don't think he was actually acting in Winning Girls Through Psychic Mind Control

I don't know what viacom is but I think it has something to do with pirating movies. When I google Viacom I get a bunch of movie torrents.
It doesn't need to go back that far. Just bump up some site that lists a free torrent to the viacom movies/tv shows.

Specifying an address of their choice wouldn't cost any more than specifying a windows live mail address.
