I am hoping that, with Disney out of the picture Pixar may create more mature movies.
Me too. I can't wait for the Pixar remake of Death Race 2000 where points are attained for more creative ways of running over 80-year-old Disney cartoon characters.
I have 13 PCs of varying snapshots of historical technologies and there's NO version of any distro that works with all of them properly.
Fedora Core 3 says in the release notes it was compiled for the latest and greatest P4 processor. Well, that leaves 80% of current users out.
Normally, in a situation like this I would suggest Gentoo since you can choose your installation arch from the installation CD, but until they find a way to safely auto-append all the config files without user intervention, I can't say it's perfect. (It's faster than the roadrunner on speed, tho!)
I'm using FC3 now on a dual PIII 1GHz with a gig of memory.
Installations:
"Minimal": CD 1
"Desktop": CD 1 & 2
"Workstation": CD 1, 2 & 3
"Everything": All 4 CDs.
I must admit, the inclusion of XFCE4 into the base distribution was a welcomed surprise. With it, I created a custom desktop whose initial installation was less than a gig in size.
The only annoyance with this distro is the tons of bizarre, unknown services they want you to run. Luckily, it's easy to turn them off.

Windows-free Loiacono notes that he's been using the Linux-based Java Desktop System for a year. "It is not perfect by any means," he concedes [snip]
I still agree with an earlier comment I made

We can't just sit around and let the large faceless corporations with 90% of the world's cash ignore the fact we have enough oil and coal to last us around 60 years.
We need to start investing in strategically placed solar and wind arrays to power this country to prepare for our childrens' blight. We all know it's NOT going to happen unfortunately, as big business can't profit from it.
Besides, IF this study is right that the north will get colder and the equator will get hotter, wouldn't this REVERSE global warming?! Isn't this what we want?
If you're looking for a new distro, are you going to choose the one that shows a plain business-like desktop with bland solid colors and business apps?
-or-
Will you choose the one with some wallpaper featuring a hot chic only wearing white panties with Tux printed on it, with a wild black and purple color theme showing apps like Xine playing a DVD, an MP3 player and Xchat?
Surprisingly, these two screenshots could be pictures of the same distro. Marketing is 90% of everything.
The next time one of you freaks decides to go on a shooting spree killing a few people (and lets hope you don't), please do it in a rented Pac-Man suit.
This way, when religious groups make the video game connection, people will finally stop listening to them.
My concern is America's dependence on oil. Scientists from all over the world say we have less than 60 years of oil left on the planet... Then what?
This reminds me of an episode of Futurama where New York shot all their garbage out into space in the early 21st century, saying "It'll return, but not in my lifetime, so it's not my problem." It returned in early year 3000. After shooting a rocket into space to "bounce" the garbage rocket into space again, Dr. Farnsworth exclaimed that it wouldn't return in his lifetime, so it wasn't his problem anymore. Sense a theme?
We (America) should immediately invest in clean energy sources like wind and solar. The prices of these sources are now extremely competitive with oil or coal burning sources. The sun and wind aren't going away any time soon.
It didn't work for Ferris Bueller.
Why? Perfect timing, baby. Perfect timing.
I think I'll order this for my neighbors.

It may not be Google, but I love its simple web|news|pictures|video|audio interface.
One sweaty fingerprint smudge or a single piece of lint strategically placed in the wrong area could render the disc useless.
Unless makers of next-generation CDs engineer their products with this in mind, we're all screwed.
Perhaps a DVD-RAM styled fingerprint and dust-proof plastic cartridge is in order?
Just a thought...
"Stolen GPL Software Found in Windows".
Oh wait...
Are you suggesting Windows is perfect?
What would Brian Boitano do?

Just tell me which book on C to buy and I'll call you back in 3 months lookin' for work.

Are the crazy rumors true that Longhorn will have a Unix kernel?

Perhaps they should have been hosted in SeaLand?
