The ability to call upon such protection should be regulated and restricted, but when's the last time Congress did anything positive for us citizens?

It'll only be destiny if they make it right, nobody but business clients are going to pay 500 dollars for a phone, UNLESS it has mp3 capabilities and big storage like the ipod does, but it's gonna be hard to cram a phone and decent sized hard drive into a small unit, and make all of this a quality product(apple has been falling behind on quality on the ipods). On top of that, only Cingular carries it? They're going up a hill, but I'm not going to damn them before the product even comes out. We will see.

an adult section on youtube is unrealistic and clashes with google's understanding that nobody likes to pay for things online. and without a credit card to verify someone's age for porn, it's not going to happen.

google/youtube just simply needs to get more tv networks and whatnot onboard. But the deal maker is to get ALL music videos online, not just current "hip" ones that the kids are watching today but as many as possible.

Replays of old tv shows would be great, even current tv shows could make a deal that youtube could have their shows a week or two later, kind of the same setup sendmail has, actual tv viewers get the latest, but computer tv viewers have to wait. So tv networks don't lose their audience if they decide to go online because the stuff online wouldn't be the latest episodes.

Because the Sorenson VP allows deaf people to assign a phone number to it. So users can just dial the number directly to whoever they want to talk to that also has the same unit.

The quality on web based video chatrooms/clients is also not very good, not sufficient for real time sign language. The Sorenson VP is free as well, so some deaf users might simply not have a webcam but they can get this unit for free.

"What is the benefit over txt messaging?"

Sign language is much faster obviously, and sign language is based alot on the user's emotions and how they use a certain sign or signs.

But to answer the parent's question, none of the cell phone carriers offer a price break for deaf/hard of hearing users.

BUT the deaf community is fond of using the t-mobile sidekick, all versions, because of the relatively cheap unlimited txt/data plan that comes with it. Sidekicks are almost dominant among deaf people. Some deaf tech sites and companies offer the sidekicks significantly cheaper to deaf users since it is so popular among them.

  18. set up some business deals on The Debate Over Advertising on Wikipedia · · Score: 3, Interesting

I'd bet Amazon or some other online bookstore would really love it if all the books and artists pages were linked to them so you can buy the books and/or music. I use it like that sometimes anyway, reading an article, see sources list, find the ISBN of the book, and head over to a book website like alibris or amazon. This could generate revenue for wikipedia. I just would hate if they had 'recommended' books or whatever as an advertisement, just simply link ISBN numbers to amazon or another website willing to pay wikipedia to be their sole source. Sort of how like Google pays Mozilla if we use the built-in search box, but google doesnt advertise it, it's just there for your convienience. Obviously not everything on wikipedia is a product or goods, but for the articles that are talking about products/good/books, wikipedia should try to create a business deal with them, a link to amazon if they have the product available. Probably need some new code but its not hard to implement.
