the rich get richer, the poor get poorer

That's because the rich invest the time to learn how to generate wealth and then do it. It's a skill almost anyone can learn. Those who don't simply have other priorities. We still live in a mostly free society in western world. It's one thing to be starving on the streets, but anyone who has enough money to have a tv and the time to watch it has all the resources they need to become wealthy.

The other reason why the poor get poorer is because of fiat currency and fractional reserve banking. This allows for rampant inflation. Inflation is a tax on the middle and lower class. Everytime banks or governments borrow money from a central bank (e.g. the Federal Reserve), new money is added to the money supply, created out of nothing. As the holders of these loans spend the money, they get its full buying power, while the buying power of dollars everyone else holds gets diluted, essentially robbing the savings of the middle class.

Insider trading is really a minor issue. If the other stockholders truly feel they lost value, they should be the ones suing.

It's been shown that adults who regularly get the flu shot have a 10 fold increased chance of Alzheimer's. Educate yourself.

It makes so much sense to me to move the tax burden from what's good in society to what's bad in society: reduce income and corporate taxes and tax pollution instead. This not only increases the reward for productive effort while discouraging negative activity, it also encourage the economy to become more efficient and thus more competitive.

  24. Re:This sucks on Enterprise Software Sales Dried Up In September · · Score: 1

It's simple. You have to accelerate your net worth faster than the acceleration of inflation. Here's a hint: you won't do that a job. You also won't do it while self-employed. The only way is to build a business that grows faster than inflation, or invest in a way that yields results higher than inflation.

Normally, that would be pretty easy. But right now, the central banks of the world are wrecklessly dumping money into the world economy -- deflating the value of the dollar very fast. You may have noticed the fall of the US dollar during the last five years when "bubbles" Greenspan lowered interest rates and dumped money into the economy. Now, they're creating dollars at a way higher rate -- over $1,000,000,000,000 in the last month alone! Now, if you add 10% more money to an economy with stagnant growth, that becomes an additional 10% inflation -- just in one month! Hyper inflation has arrived in the US. I feel very sorry for my American friends.

The way out of this is to stop creating money. Let credit freeze up, let people sell their assets/products/services at a reduced rate to free up capital, and let those in a negative equity situation go bankrupt. The longer they prolong it, the worse it will be when the big bubble finally pops.
