then why would you ask if it's accomplished anything else, implying what it accomplished is not enough (and thus becomes a flamebait)?
i'm not an astronomer/space scientist, but just looking at those pics and spending 5 minutes wondering and marveling, images from billions of years ago, is more than enough for me to think it's not a waste to spend a bit of our tax money to scientific causes. (i am, however, is a physicist.)
>Anything other than cure our lust for knowledge of the unknown?
the difference is, some will not think of those things in terms of "anything other than..."
what "other" things are you thinking it should have accomplished or we should accomplish in general? do you think "curing the lust for knowledge of the unknown" is not worthy enough on its own? if so, could you tell me why you think not?
let me just state that it's hard to put a price tag on "functioning" status. what's working today and will continue to work longer with high probability given proper care is almost infinitely more valuable than something that's being planned and may (or may not) work in the future.
>3. Drop Memory Stick Duo and use Compact Flash. Lets face it... I'm a Clie owner myself. CF is the better of the two. It's price per MB is much cheaper. Not to mention you can buy them anywhere, and they are improving in capacity and speed.
i'd think this point is a good one if the use of memory stick would compromise the overall design/functionality. but i don't think so. putting a CF reader would have required more space. this isn't quite like sony digital music players not playing mp3 - that went against the core functionality of what society defined as a digital music player and they had no chance in hell to try to sell their proprietary format.
i think the reasonable alternative would have been using SD, but since memory stick is fairly small, i think sony did ok to stick with what they own... i think most people will simply look at it as another investment you have to make, instead of thinking CF/SD/Memory Stick all serve pretty much the same function so should have used the cheapest one.
if anything, some users with sony digital cameras will be enticed, while those without will simply decide whether this device is what they want without much regard to the flash memory format being used. remember, this is a consumer targetted device - most will not care or know better.
with the value pack in japan, psp is 26,000 yen. so $250 is about right. you just don't have the same choice as in japan to purchase without the value pack for $200.
>one would think they'd charge less at first and ramp the price up as more games are released
um, can you name me a single gaming device (or any electronics device, for that matter) where the price started low and went up without improving the specs?
you always start "too high" and then lower the price as the demand picks up.
speaking of invites... why does google keep on moving that invite notice back and forth? i've had mine for about a year now and it switched from being on the top, then to the left column, then back to the top, now back to the left column. granted the latest change is actually nice because you can directly send an invite by putting in an address, but still. why fuss and move it so often?
6% increase in the CPU speed merits voiding the warranty? (and this *will* void the warranty - good luck trying to explain any heat damages when the apple S/N says what was purchased was a 1.25 GHz, but the machine profile says 1.42 GHz.)
>Look, it's not sushi, if you RTFA you'll see it's a novelty item printed with sushi designs on the outside -- it's not supposed to even look like sushi.
of course not, did you think you could print sushi? i mean, when/. summarizes that "Darl McBride eats shit," do we really mean that (even if we want it to be true)?:P
MSN image search is returning results where the image filename actually contains "britney" and "spears." as far as i saw on the first page of the results, all the files have "...britney_spears....jpg" name. if such is the algorithm being used, this severely limits the number of possible hits.
this is contrary to google image search where it's not simply searching for filenames. google search seems to understand that images of britney spears need not have "britney" and "spears" in the filename.
nothing like having an "excuse" to search for britney spears images, eh?:P
we/.-ers certainly hate her music but apparently she's not as painful to look at.:D
msn search may not be as good as google/yahoo, but the prominent-cleavages-to-image-number ratio is quite high for all three search engines. who's complaining?:P
yeah, this is exactly what i thought. just because this is google doesn't make it immune from poisonous types who will do illegal things to satisfy their greed.
what's to attribute specifically to CAN-SPAM?
on
Can-Spam Increased Spam
·
· Score: 4, Interesting
could the increase be due to natural causes? that people are spamming more, regardless of CAN-SPAM?
what's the fraction of spam that's sent which is CAN-SPAM compliant? how has that increased? (no i didn't RTFA since i haven't registered. does the article answer this?)
i realize wiki's #1 rule is NPOV, but simply by the way it's editted/modified, NPOV is hard to maintain. people who are knowledgeable/bothered enough to go to wiki and contribute will have certain traits that will make their contributions not NPOV. wiki contributors must be technically inclined - that alone is a strong bias. or they have an agenda to push - another strong bias.
encarta staff has professional obligation to being as unbiased as possible. whether you trust microsoft staff to uphold that is a different question, but i am yet to see wiki address the inherent bias that's present in the very nature of its contribution mechanism.
>Instead of wasting time and resources on a search engine, they should first fix their piece of shit insecure operating system.
you do realize microsoft has different divisions? and different divisions do different things? this is like telling Sony's cellphone division to fix the stereo receiver.
then i'm sure there would be reports of thumb problems in asia, especially japan, where people compulsively send SMS and emails using their cellphone/joystick. just take a ride in a japanese commuter train - since actually talking on the phone is considered disruptive and a public nuisance, people either text-message or play games on their cellphone.
i usually don't believe much in psychological analysis like this because they are usually very, very subjective, a lot of "conclusions" heavily biased by prior knowledge.
the fact who "analysts" thought was the source of writing turned out to be incorrect makes it pretty interesting.:)
have you actually used one? or are you judging by the looks of it? go and try the keyboard - if anything, it will make the deal for you to buy a PB instead of breaking it.
i have the 12". it took me practically no time to get used to the keyboard - the only major difference is the 'fn' key next to the left 'crtl' key - which is a standard for many laptops.
i don't understand this. can someone elaborate please?

but wouldn't you think twice and harder if the new car's availability and price are vastly uncertain?

that makes my point even worse - they mucked around with this invite thing more often in shorter period of time then.

asking:
can the government restrict internet contents for obscene material?
will get a vastly different answer than:
should the government restrict internet contents for obscene material?
but both question can be reported as "X% of students feel government can strict obscene material on the internet."
