  8. i live in the alps.... on Consumers Prefer Movies At Home · · Score: 1

i live in the alps, in the TYROL to be exact. let me sum up what a movie at the theater costs me:

    a 50 kilometer ride by car ( ~ 10 dollar fuel )
the cinema ticket for me and my babe ~ dollar 10
    some food and the obligatory after-cinema disco-visit ( ~ dollar 30 )

sums up to at least 50 dollar for a shitty flick and i cant even fsck my girlfriend in the theater.

compare that to the bandwidth costs of a downloaded screener and the pleasure of having my girlfriend fallen asleep beside me because of the shitty plot and boring action of most hollywood productions. i can roll a joint and keep on working :)

i just talked to some girls about the hollywood stuff, they all told me in the first sentence they always fall asleep when watching this sh1t at home.

seems to me, this hollywood stuff is designed that way:
you get her into bed by baiting with Brad Pitt, the subliminal messages in the movie make her fall asleep in your bed. she starts to feel homelike in your bed ;)

yeah, if a simple purchase-number would be encoded this way repeated throughout the whole song chances that it will be readable after different conversion steps are near to 100%. especially in rap and techno music no one would really notice this. he record-corp-bitches mind me if you use this technique and send me some green. i really need it.

  12. noise-encoded drm data on Sony's New Nagging Copy Protection · · Score: 1

i have no problem to use an analog way to backup my music to mp3. what i see coming next are low-bitrate datastreams encoded as noise into the music, so that the origin of the illegaly copied track is possible to find even when an analog step was in the copy-chain. then some copyright hunter can go into a disco with a cellphone enabled to read out this noise-encoded id-number.

  25. translating GPL on Drafting GPL3 · · Score: 1

i think the risk in translating the GPL to several other languages is that many points could be layed out differently due to the broad meaning of some words. this could lead to abuse. english is accepted as international #1 language and people programming computers will never get around a basic knowledge of the english language. also people in high ranks such as judges or lawyers are able to understand english. maybe a LATIN version of the GPL would make sense... or even better: the official valid license should be written in english but easy understandable translations should be made available. with easy to understand i mean commented so that a 15 year old newbie can get the sense out of it.
