You still dont distinguish between US and UK aircraft carriers. UK aircraft carriers are miniscule compared to US carriers, and Harriers are uselessly simulated within FS. If you think you could still manage this, go have a word with John Farley - he'll set you straight.
If you had done any real flying, you would know MS Flight Simulator is useless for almost everything, apart from IFR training "on-instruments". FS doesn't even support motion simulation without third party additions and expensive hardware which I doubt you have.
Nothing more needs to be said on the subject so I suppose I'll stop feeding you 8-)
hell the deck probably has 40 or 50 sitting on top
You've obviously never seen HMS Invincible then, http://www.royal-navy.mod.uk/static/pages/1469.htm l/, if you think it can hold 40/50 aircraft on the top deck. Harriers do not land on UK carriers "in-flight" as US aircraft would on a massive vessel (Nimitz, perhaps?); they require to hover above the deck and lower down onto the ship. Hovering alone is hard enough and combined with pitching/heaving seas and a deck that is constantly in motion, landing there is a big deal...but I'm sure you could do it better.
Can you give us an example of such a vehicle with these electronically actuated brakes? Surely if the engine failed, the battery in the car would provide power to the system..it would be even more unsafe otherwise, and I doubt such a design would be allowed on the road.
And why would braking be controlled by the engine control unit?
MTV has turned from a music channel to an "entertainment" channel. Here in the UK, if you want non stop music videos, MTV Hits/Bass/Dance/ will do that. MTV 1 has turned into the likes of Bravo, Sky One etc but still orientated round the different music scenes.
A lot of MTV viewers are casual gamers, and probably make up the target market for these consoles - to MS it's not about which audience *knows* about gaming, it's about which audience will like what they see and go buy it. Makes sense to have this on MTV instead of G4...how international is G4, compared to the presence MTV has?
I didn't get to try the BSM thing - they only wanted to allow older "driving age" students to use it at the time - what is the point in that? General concensus did seem to be that it wasn't up to much however. The real thing is more fun anyways:)
Commendable DIY effort, but I've used a system like this at my local "Holiday Hypermarket" before, based on some model of Cadillac. I have no idea what it was doing in a travel agents in East Kilbride, UK, but it was running a funky driver training program and token-operated.
BSM (UK group of driving schools) brought a mobile version based on a Vauxhall (Opel/GM) Corsa to my school a few months back as well.
Assuming you meant "500 people", as the A380 doesn't carry 800
The A380 is perfectly capable of carrying 800 people and is advertised as such; the decision rests with the airlines themselves, and customers who probably will not want to be crammed in like sardines.
The space suits themselves don't have thrusters but the Manned Maneuvering Unit (essential a really large backpack) has small gas-thrusters not dissimiliar to the larger RMS thrusters on the actual shuttle itself.
I believe the shuttle itself only has one, so if the disabled one is docked up, you'd either have to EVA through the other airlock, or keep the working one in orbit near by while they work on it.
You could EVA through the other ISS airlock straight to the undocked rescue shuttle (which also has an airlock), but you could also have one/two crewmembers move the damaged shuttle away from the station, then EVA from it to either the ISS or the rescue ship, with the American-shape airlock now free for the rescue shuttle to dock. This would be a lot more practical than having ~7 people doing an EVA - there may not even be enough suits for such an activity.
There are facilities on both the shuttle and ISS for extra-vehicular activity. Whoever moves the shuttle can suit up and leave it, using the MMU suit to move back to the ISS or the rescue shuttle.
Not sure on the corrections, but there's always ebay or pre-owned sections in games shops to try and grab an older version.
As for the cables, I've only seen them once in a retail shop (A local Gamestation here in the UK). They are however readily available on the net, and I'd presume someone with the intent to install linux on their Xbox might also be capable of making their own (as simple as matching coloured wires and joining them together for a quick bodge job).
Also, no need to "short" a "leg" inside the case.:)
Flashing the default MS BIOS might void the warranty though; it's not a hardware mod but I don't think you would stand a chance if you sent the xbox in for repair.
"well - that's just as well 'modding' as well(and don't you need to short some leg inside the case as well?). that is not trivial for a normal user."
Actually, instructions are available on http://www.xbox-linux.org/ for the soft-mod exploit. It's as easy as going out, buying the game required and an adaptor cable for your USB pendrive to copy the save onto the xbox. It will ruin Xbox Live compatibility, but based on the assumption you wont be using the xbox for those games any more. It is trivial for the normal user; it just requires some extra hardware many people will already have (No need to buy an adaptor cable...splice together an inline-release cable from xbox, and an old USB cable, for example).
The buttons on the Xbox controller ARE also pressure sensitive to varying degrees. (As for the range of this sensitivity, I am unsure...and the black/white buttons do not appear to have it). The rear triggers on the Xbox controller are also fully analog axes, not the button arrangement you have on the Playstation controllers.
I personally care for the Xbox S controller. I use the standard S and the Joytech Neo-S...both sturdier and more comfortable than any of the PS1/PS2 controllers I have.
Why mention that you go to the gym with regards to the weight of the Xbox controller? It may be your personal preference to like the reduced weight, but suggesting the Xbox controllers require a good workout to pick up is slightly daft;)
Is Doom 3 Xbox co-op over Live/LAN? In that case, I can empathise with you wanting it on the PC versions.
What if it's splitscreen though? How would you make PC Doom 3 cope with dual keyboard/mouse? Wouldn't Windoze get ever so slightly confused?
Of course it would be relatively easy to provide alternative modes for both PC and Xbox, so I can see your point about PC getting the shaft. Probably comes down to "lazy" developers and some requirement for a unique Xbox selling point (low pre-sales expectations perhaps?).

Other countries use MPH as well you know...the UK for a start, and Eire until recently.

Or more beer for the launch party....
They are, actually, "cute" digital dogs :)

Bare the wires, stick em together with electrical tape :P A true bodge job.

Does Windows 2000 count then? :D

"Post Humously" != "Post Humerously" :)
Or even decent Irish beer :p
What's wrong with Guinness?
