    My boner of contention comes from the half-dozen asshats who jumped on Slashdot at 5PM Pacific and start spiking my comments for the day.

    If you subscribed to Compute! or Compute! Gazette (Commodore 64), or got one of the programming books, the more complicated programs required that you had to enter eight three-digit numbers (000-254) and a three-digit checksum for each byte (IIRC). Took hours to enter those programs. If you done everything right, the program works. If it didn't work, you had to double check your numbers or re-enter the whole thing over again. Not for the faint of heart!

    Is creimer programmed in coffee creamer? Or does he just peel open the little cups and drink them by the hundreds?

    Neither. I have a skinny vanilla latte (milk, espresso shot and sugar-free syrup) in the morning and drink water for the rest of the day. If I'm programming at home, I'll drink Diet Pepsi.

    What does this have to do with my question about AlphaGo?

    That's funny. Web browsers didn't appear until 1995.

    Watching Logan's Run would be the most exercise you've had in years!

    In addition to walking 20 minutes on the treadmill, I also pulled 75 reps @ 75 pounds and 15 reps @ 150 pounds on the sit-up rowing machine. Not quite ready to pull 5 reps @ 300 pounds yet.

    Yes, I'm sure you just happened to meet this "tech" at a meeting, and he had perfect recall of shit he did 13 years ago just to be able to fellate you in a meeting.

    The original tech left 13 years prior. The PCs that I replaced were replacements from six years earlier. Most of the techs have been on the job for 8+ years, including the tech who replaced those PCs six years earlier.

    Interesting. I wasn't aware that there was a 1931 version of "The Maltese Falcon." The 1941 remake was obviously a lot more successful of the two.

    True story. But let's look at the historical context of that story from the L.A. Times.

    The Leventhal study estimates Japanese investment in U.S. real estate last year at $5.06 billion, down from the $13.06 billion spent in 1990. The peak year for Japanese investing was 1988, when they spent $16.54 billion on U.S. properties.

    According to the TFA, smartphones, TVs, Chinese media and electric cars. Initial reputation was "Netflix of China" before they expanded to US. Looks like someone had money to burn.
