It seems that the officials in charge won't adhere to their conscience, investigating irregularities or stopping the landslide of power, either because they don't want to or don't dare. If they don't want to, they are corrupt and follow the most influentual faction, in this case the president and the administration. In order to change their behavior, they have to realise that the power always lies with the people, whether they (the people) believe this or not. And the people should tell them this by slapping the government if it doesn't behave.

Any people as a whole always get the government they deserve. Time to get the pitchforks?

    Good news.

    I am a social engineer.

I got my diploma from hanging around i bars (not in woman clothings(most of the time)) and doing extensive research. In lack of challenges, I have turned my focus on the more intellectual domain to augment my skills. Your little piece of information will be of great value to my line of work, influencing the IT inclined.

So I, for one, welcome our new hyperlink overlords.

I wonder how many got sick(er) from reading this article. Not from the typos or from sitting in front of a computer, but the thought that practicly anything that runs on power makes one sick.

The article brings forwards subjective opinions and stories about individuals, and barely touches organized blind testing. Rumours are started this way, but on the other hand, newspapers are organized rumours.

    I don't believe the hype.(Which is a "leading" statement.)

If the project isn't plagued by haste, and takes its time it is able to address som important issues at hand:

For humanity and science to grow beyond our current technology, we need viable powersources. I regard fossile fuel like a "rocket booster", when it runs out, we need something to keep us "airborne", technologywise. Fusion technology looks exciting and is supposed to be selfsufficient before long, but if we fail, a backup plan might be useful.

And another thing, antibiotics are falling behind in the race for our health. If (when) it does so completely, one thing that stands between us and the diseases is evolution, an armsrace between our natural defences and the bacteria. Since we've avoided it for so long, we got a lot of catching up to do. The alternative might to create medicine which can catch up on itself. But all of this should be distant future, so ethics are able to grow alongside.

As stated in parent, C is the control.

Though I experienced more difficulty pinpointing the target in C, this might be induced by the replacement in itself. After some tries of the first two tests, I started to familiarize myself with the sequence.

The swap then introduced an unfamiliar element in the series, this drawing as much attention as the graphic picture did at first. The picture is quite neutral, but the change in iself puts me off guard...not that I want to see indecent things...

Ever expected something and didn't get it? Ever get annoyed when you've forgotten to brush your teeth? The habit is a powerful thing.

This also demonstrates the terrifying ability of getting used to just about everything...

Much of Adams' genious lies in the narration, and not the actual plot itself. In addition, a great deal of humour stems from "cut-scenes" where Adams describes why things are like they are. Both of these are probably to cumbersome to include in the motion picture.

"A junior Disaster Area accountant, visiting the shipyard where this ship was being constructed, had demanded to know of the works foreman why the hell they were fitting an extremely expensive teleport into a ship which only had one important journey to make, and that unmanned. The foreman had explained that the teleport was available at a ten per cent discount and the accountant had explained that this was immaterial; the foreman had explained that it was the finest, most powerful and sophisticated teleport that money could buy and the accountant had explained that the money did not wish to buy it; the foreman had explained that people would still need to enter and leave the ship and the " accountant had explained that the ship sported a perfectly serviceable door; the foreman had explained that the accountant could go and boil his head and the accountant had explained to the foreman that the thing approaching him rapidly from his left was a knuckle sandwich. After the explanations had been concluded, work was discontinued on the teleport which subsequently passed unnoticed on the invoice as "Sund. explns." at five times the price."
