    For British Telecom 'lost'/or had stolen there reverse dns servers that where refered to by ripe.net

    The thing was apperently on 217.32.105.90 whether it is still down is something I gave up caring about.

    Being 'English' yes Traffic police may be needed, but the those who manage the english budgets think they can do WITHOUT them and in the UK are replacing human officers with Gatso speed cameras and there ilk.

    This means that if you do not have insurance, driving with drugs, - you will not be stopped.

    Beware - you make a definition between the job and the accountants - its the accounts who run the UK police forces.

    If you work in police tech good for you, but I see an amazing amount of retards in cars that no 'speed camera' will catch.

    You have to think the way accountants think or otherwise most of your post is /dev/null.

    Google seems to me have got itself into a corner. There are lots of pages of crap, but my non 302 site is not in its index. Google is playing the were smarter than the search engine optimizers game. The 'genuine' websites who have real information lose out. Google is loosing the plot, i wish to pay nobody, or advertise on google. I do have some yahoo pages indexed on google. I dont consider them important and to me prove how dumb there 'bot' is. When google stops playing the 'game' perhaps things might improve ? Google is not a definetive search in my eyes.

    Whenever I put someting in production I prefer that is remains 'independant' from a single host

    So should disaster happen I can
    1. fix 'broken' thing
    2. restore backup
    3. change hostname
    4. Problem ?

    Ldap (like imap) is ideal for this
    The sooner a good book on ldap appears the better for Linux.

    Are there any decent books on ldap ? (amazon say no decent books either)

    My problems with ldap:
    1. Why do you have to buy a 'commercial' product (no not MS - but say IBM (domino),Novell (nds))
    2. or Enterprise Linux?

    Please do not get me wrong
    1. Writing ldif files is easy
    2. Ldap (i assume is easy) but only if you have done it before

    Openldap still appears to be a 'priesthood' occult.

    Ozzie is/was 'respected' within the Notes community. I believe he was reported at the last Lotusphere in January celeebrating some anniversay of 'notes'. Which is the IBM conference and has been running for 10+ years.

    Its a little slow at times but if you pay attention it pays off. It's not an 'alien of the week' story line where it dont matter if you watched them backwards.

    My favourite episode is on series 2 disk 5 or 6 with 'Sebastian', now thats a 'cool' story.

    Now does B5 need a another film - no.
    I don't own them on video/dvd either.

    I have never used Redhat whatever, or Fedora - but the suse version I have has ldap, mailservers, apache and all the other stuff - So why do I want enterprise RH or Fedora?.

    If Redhat management recommends windoze on desktops for customers, and RH customers think 'normal' linux is bad/buggy then I don't want to deal with that sort of company with the mantra

    'redhat is only good for apache/server thing'.

    Im sure Fedora is fully functional but so is Debian, and Suse seems to work as well.

    Will i be running/converting to RH/Fedora in the future - no I somehow doubt that.

    Agree but I don't watch much tv in a week, or need to use BT, I check the schedules once a week and find not a lot to interest me.

    Only things I 'watch' on uk tv are: West Wing (i have to video ?so this is 'watch' the right word?) as we eat dinner when it is on. Plus Star Gate and thats just finished.

    Could not care less about Housewives, 24, ER etc. TV as supplied by the five channels in the UK is something I could give up.

    I think it transmitted 'Saving Private Ryan' last week 'again' so there not weak willed when it comes to censorship lobby.

    They do the odd interesting thing - Anatomy, and odd controversial play - But that stuff is becoming 'rare'

    Thats my perspective.

    OK I've been waiting ages - since last year - for enterprise season three in the UK on 'normal' tv.

    But I did see a couple of enterprise season 4 episodes in the US and thought they where rubbish

    So do i miss enterprise - 'no'.

    I do prefer 'new' Battlestar Galatica, sod Time Travel - did Archer get to his dentist appiontment and meet the nazi who the frack gives a sh*t.

    Star Trek has been 'over done'. and yes episode 12 of new BG is great. To save enterprise replace Archer/Scott Baculla actor now.
