But IPAD was around before iPad, and dakameleon was talking about claiming IPAD was too similar to iPod. Read the post I'm replying too, your reply is missing the point.
Fujitsu are selling an IPAD, not an iPad or even iPAD. Could McDonalds claim patent infringement over something else because it started with Mc? They'd also have a good case for appending a letter to the start of what something the produced is similar to from well... email.
a) Americans do it regularly, other countries hardly at all
b) I'm not British
c) I always say vacuum for vacuum cleaner
d) Yes I say 'Thermos' but Thermos is closely associated with the function of the device (as i'm sure you're aware, knowing what a thermometer is) and also a shortening of 'thermal flask' which also allows the word to be used for flasks which perform the same function but with solid insulation rather than a vacuum.
Hint: It was from a poll. Admittedly the pizza poll but it's practically the same thing as a location poll. 52% for north america, which would include canada. http://slashdot.org/pollBooth.pl?qid=1900&aid=-1 The poll may be slightly slanted to Europe for everyone who went to italy and had expensive pizza but since there are gourmet pizzas on every continent most people will have voted where they live.
And you're obviously not a scientist - gravity is also a theory. Also you seem to think wikipedia is the be all and end all of knowledge when in fact it usually ends up stating conservative theories like this because everyone and their dog can edit the article and they have to compromise to avoid an edit war. You've also missed the point, which was the poster who said alcohol played no role in a hangover - despite the myriad varieties of alcohol all managing to cause one with the common ingredients being ethanol and water.
Your thinking this is a US centric site does not make it a US centric site. This is the Internet - people from everywhere read (and submit) articles from everywhere
I still don't get why you Americans insist on naming things after the most popular brand name when they already have proper names either, to the rest of the world it's like calling all card Fords or all computers IBMs.
It's 350 (slightly prorated) to leave early because you paid $200 upfront for a 600-700$ phone. Well the figures vary depending on exactly what phone you have but you get the point.
Just in case that's not clear I'm not seriously stating phones are 93% complete, I'm just giving an example of pulling a number out of my... hat with nothing to back it up.
Facts? That's your opinion and you have no evidence to back it up at all. THE FACTS ARE THAT EVERY MOBILE PHONE TODAY SHIPS DELIVERING 93%!
I'd say provide examples of how it's 50% and you did, but how the hell is active sync 50% of the OS? Also you're going to have to deal with the fact that not every phone comes with every feature in software and the fact they decide to code in those features later does not retroactively make the original release less than complete - when you bought the phone it didn't advertise having Active Sync but you still decided to buy it rather than choose a phone which could sync.
Actually i'd say the answer is yes. Would I pay $2 a year to read slashdot? Sure, and that $2 per person per year would probably be higher than the add income they get through having one more unique IP address loading ads from them daily/weekly or however it's metered. It's got to be a lot more economical as I almost never click on an ad on purpose and buy even less than that from ads.
Gah, stupid comment system somehow mangled my post. First paragraph should have been this
Strangely enough while reading this article I've just bumped into the problem of this work PC's soundcard being unable to push my headphones past around 80dB while just last week a volume setting 75% of max delivered an almost painful burst of sound from my canal-phones which will always be an option on these devices if they start coming out with hard limits of 100dB on shipped crappy bud phones due to EU nannyism.
Strangely enough while reading this article I've just bumped into the problem of this work PC's soundcard being unable to push my headphones past around 80dB while just last week a volume setting Actually my roughly 4 or so year old Creative Zen Vision M (which still works perfectly) came with a limiter option called safesound or softsound or something which scaled the maximum volume setting down to a fairly harmless level.
And there's legal precedent for it too - see that story from not that long ago where the court considered someone in violation of their restraining order because they poked the other person on facebook.
Well on android you can.... go to the market and install another application repository, there are several out there more focused on certain types of apps, with more specific requirements etc.
Every new album is released on LP? What the hell are you smoking! Maybe in the dance/djing genre, most certainly not for rock and alternative - or at the very least the only stores selling records here (Australia) have a rather anaemic selection.
People who can mentally hash their password with the salt the computer reads to them

Works fine for me, but I'm using chrome. Wait, works in IE too... WTF are you talking about???
I'd hardly call posting on slashdot important :P

That would be the fairly constant 2-3% donkey vote, look it up, it's fairly consistent across all types of election.

52% isn't really an overwhelming majority and likely won't be for much longer as overseas readership continues to grow.
It's ok, we can let you keep thinking that if you really want to :)

Actually it's not - the $350 fee is for 'advanced devices' which is, while certainly not well defined also not EVERY phone.

The HP Mini 311's have Ions so I don't know what they mean by 'firs' netbook which could play older 3D titles respectably.

I'd still prefer a recording using 90% of the recording range of vinyl than one compressed into 10% of the dynamic range of a CD.

Of course, you're absolutely right. Noone has recorded anything but punk rock in the last 20 years, it's terrible.
