  1. Re:I can never figure out what mine should be on How Much Money do Programmers Really Make? · · Score: 1

25 users? 1 server? GPS-schmePS that doesn't sound too difficult to maintain. Although you should have a backup person. I'm not saying this is you, but I have met many people in similar jack of all trade spots for small companies that don't know how to use IT tech to eliminate work instead of create it. They truly are busy all day long and put in plenty of over time. However they don't need to. They just don't seem to be aware of all the tools available to automate and streamline their jobs. Again I'm not saying this is you, but just because your job is a lot of work does not necessarily mean you are extra important and irreplaceable. It may simply mean you suck at your job. -Z

Anytime any company would not confirm one way or the other, in my experience the synical prediction has always been correct. For example when Corel purchased Jasc where I worked and proclaimed, "We don't know if job cuts will be necessary" which means most entire departments will be axed.

  5. Huh sounds similar to the .psd crippling on Adobe Blasts Nikon's Closed File Format · · Score: 1

The Photoshop (version 5 and earlier) document used to be an open part of Adobes free SDK, this is no longer the case and you'll notice no competing software can support .psd features beyond what was in Photoshop 5. Perhaps Nikon should ask for a tit for tat, as non of there software can use Adobes files.

  8. Umm whats the point? on Microsoft Partially Opens Proprietary XML Format · · Score: 1

I'm honestly confused. Could someone explain what the point of having an Office XML document would be? If its not using the XML standard and needs to be opened doesn't that make it something other than XML? Thanks. p.s. Corel Wordperfect can open and create Word Docs, and even has a Word mode where the UI is layed out like Word.
