Ya, about the great job that the RIAA is doing keeping filesharing at bay. Newyorkcountrylawyer, I have enjoyed your posts on the legal details and tactics of this situation for quite some time. But if you think the actual money involved in this; win, lose, settle, "if it don't fit you must aquit" or anything else has anything to do with anything other than keeping pressure on the filesharers, you need to come to the city and realize how big these companies are. Sony BMG, a company I used to work for, could keep this pressure up for years and years, and years and years.....and years. That is, as long as the system doesn't fall apart legally, which is what the lawyers are really trying to prevent here.

I'm a little surprised that you say this. Seems these lawyers work for the music industry hell bent on making sure the pressure is on file sharers, nothing more. The actual amount of money involved in the these cases is irrelevant to the attorneys or the music industry, win or lose. The attorneys fees are being paid by the members of the RIAA who have a dog in the fight much larger than this pittance, for sure. People seem to think that if they start losing money on this tactic it will stop. I can assure you, the music industry has already lost a ton of money doing this, and I am sure they don't care one bit. It is paying off in spades in their eyes.

Your logic frightens me. The system is set up to determine who is a terrorist and who is not through due process and innocent until proven guilty. The problem is, when due process is thrown out *for ANYONE*, like you just did, then the constitution that you swore to uphold becomes meaningless. I mean, you have determined someone is a terrorist or is associated with terrorists. Well, that means that you can trample their constitutional rights, because, of course, they are terrorists. We have to take away their freedom so that we can be safe and free, right?

The fact is, defending the constitution is *hard*. It makes it difficult to take rights away. It makes it difficult to swallow that in order to maintain freedom we may need to allow terrorists to go free. We may need to provide habeas to people that aren't US citizens. We may need to get warrants to listen in on conversations, which could hamper our abilities to catch terrorists.

Yes, defending the constitution is *hard*.

You, this administration, and apparently the American public, are just lazy. Lazy of mind, lazy of acts.

While I agree with you that most of this is FUD, the fact that the other distros "work just fine" is irrelevant. "Not supported" means, to the enterprise world, not doable. Meaning, Microsoft VM ain't gonna happen in the big shops.

I think that there is a valid overall point to this submission, regardless of its hyperbole. It is that Microsoft's arrogance to think that they don't have to support other distros is exactly a fall back to their old ways. And this time, giving it away for free or making it a part of the Windows operating system isn't going to save Hyper-V like it did to save so many of their other products. For this fight of the hypervisor (essentially the new OS of the data center), VMWare has all the market share and lock in.
