Well, even without piracy, they still don't make nearly as many sales as Sony, so they can't lower their prices or they won't make a profit.
Also, they spent quite a lot of money on minidisk technology to be able to make it pirate-proof. Not to mention they can now demand a higher price since people can't get the games any other way (ie more people would probably pirate PS2 games if they cost more).
Xbox charges less (I think) but it is losing tons of money (mostly because of the cost to build the console itself). Microsoft is far more concerned in establishing a fan base so they can crush Sony.
Sounds a lot like the problem I'm thinking about when I see the Nintendo DS.

I'm certainly no expert, but generally speaking, verbal agreements can't be used to change written contracts, especially if the written contract has a heap of disclaimers in it (which EA's definately would, I don't like most of their games, but they know how to make money; in fact, last time I checked they are the most profitable company in the business)
I'll tell you one thing; there are many extensions that worked on the older versions of Firefox that haven't been updated forthis version.
I can understand why people who make extensions don't feel like updating with every release, but what funamentally changes between versions that makes old extensions not work? I mean, the actual product is pretty similar...
And I'd rather have awesome extensions like "Tab-browser preferences" than a find bar (although I do find the find bar really cool and useful).
This is absolutely positively true. You can't use statistics accurately in this way, especially if something important (the hurrincane) has happened in between earlier studies and the 2004 vote.
At the same time, this paperless thing is no good. At least let us look at some sort of database of who voted for which party (with serial numbers of course so you can't trace it back to the person, just like a real ballot). Maybe they did do that. I don't know the exact details.
There might not have been any tampering, but it's impossible to tell and this system needs to be improved. With a poll this important, keeping some information on paper is an acceptable innefficieny.
I was very surprised it got a 9 for graphics. A game even slightly better than MP1 for graphics should be getting a 10. I haven't played the game so I don't know about the rest.
Considering they had to delay Halo 2, it's a bit unlikely Halo 3 will come out Feb 9th 2005. Also, I think they set up a cliffhanger on purpose; to help XBox 2 sales. If it launches with Xbox 2, it's unlikely to come at any Feb 9th because consoles typically launch during Christmas.
I'd say this is either an announcement for the next game, or maybe just a very large XBox Live Halo 2 tournament set up by Bungie.
I agree, the PSP is too much like a console. With handheld I want to be able to play simple games, not watch FMV clips.
The touch screen on the DS is an all right idea, but I still feel that two screens could be annoying to look at.
I'm guessing this is going to be a tight battle. Anyone want to guess the results from a sales standpoint?
Heck, wind power, solar power, a toaster that cooks more evenly, anything but another one of these missions that revolve around... revolving around the world.
Well, while it's true that many sites already review games in depth, I guess this is just an opportunity for the people a Slashdot to put in their two cents.
Heck, if you owned a site that millions of people go to and felt like reviewing a game, could you resist the urge to put it on your site? I couldn't.

Try Canada. tons of Income Tax, Sales Tax, Breathing Tax...
Wow! I can't believe I never thought of that. That's really awesome.
I've never seen that before. It's pretty good.

Remember, though, lots of people aren't smart enough to set up good filters or even to ignore spam. (most people use IE).
