    Two parties? Apologies, maybe it's the distance, but from over here in Europe it looks like the US has only one party with two slightly differing wings.

    Seriously. If the main problem for the moderator in a political debate is to find some kind of tiny semantic difference in the position of the two biggest candidates, you know something is not going right.

    That's why they fixed most of the issues in Windows 8.1. You should try it.

    I did. They haven't. It still takes me away from where I'm working (the desktop) into Metro at every opportunity.

    Want to view an image? Let's go to Metro.
    Want to play an mp3? Let's go to Metro.

    Yes you can fix it but you have to do it for every single file extension, on every computer you own.

    Or... I could just stick with Windows 7.

    Absolutely not! TSA agents are mostly people who couldn't pass the US Postal Carrier exam. Several people I knew who were not "bulbworthy" were getting jobs at the TSA shortly after 9/11. They have a very low bar for entry.

    It's not their fault. TSA agents are just pawns in the game of life.

    OTOH the "free trial" it might induce some people to buy the DVDs or a T-shirt. That's also unquantifiable, but all independent research shows it's more than the number you're worrying about.

    Yep. Is there a legal way for me to send the Game Of Thrones people some money just because I feel like it?

    All they need to do is set up a paypal account or whatever and display it at the end of each episode. Don't they feel they're missing out by not doing that...?

    If we're allowed to choose our own definition of "god", then sure, "god" exists. He could be my cat for all I know.

    Most (all?) of science is unprovable.

    OTOH some things have evidence, which is a good reason to believe in them.

    Religion has no evidence to back it up, believing in it is the definition of irrationality.

    I have to believe that programming and puzzle solving have similar effects.

    I get the same effect from reading a good datasheet.

    (The plots are usually quite linear though so they won't be to everybody's taste...)

    The "classical music" alternative is far more civilised.

    Oh, you and your ear-preserving music...

    A better way would be for every town to put some heavy metal, old mattresses and free soda out in a disused quarry somewhere and just let them get on with it.

    It costs very little and keeps them out of our way.
