Well that would be logical wouldn't it, given that Android is a more widely used platform
Not only that, it has a checkbox to allow you to install unsigned apps from uncontrolled websites.
Unsurprisingly, bad people upload malware to those sites. If you download it and click "yes", you'll get what you deserve, just like installing randomly downloaded exe files on PCs, etc.
Its tricky to know somebody's driving when you send a text.
OTOH if you call somebody who's driving you can hear the car, etc., you can usually tell if they're driving or not. Making it illegal not to hang up if you know somebody is driving would make more sense.
You're dead wrong. There'll be mass adoption as soon as people figure out you get to watch TV or go on Facebook while you're on your way to work,
Any company that has to pay drivers (taxis, buses, trucks, airport shuttles...) will also be straining at the leash waiting for this to happen. As soon as it's approved, all their drivers will be out on their asses. The companies will save so much money on wages, fuel, insurance, etc. that switching to robots will be the only way to stay competitive.
Add in the old people who can't pass the driver's medical and you're looking at a switchover measured in months for a big chunk of the population.
No more tailgating, left lane hogging, pulling out without indicating, running red lights, drunk driving or any of that other stuff the meat-based drivers keep on doing.
Free up the roads for people who don't see driving as a chore and make an effort to drive properly.

The major problem is that it keeps dumping you into "Metro" mode while you're trying to use desktop programs.
Getting back from metro mode to desktop mode takes some effort, and it's a constant annoyance.

I can tell you're not in marketing. (Or maybe you're in the marketing division of Microsoft...your attitude is precisely ht problem they have)
The web is full of people not buying Windows 8 because they heard there's no start button. They want a start button? Microsoft should give it to them.
After you get the machine in their hands they can discover the new way of doing things and decide if they like it or not. The point is not to put any obstacles before the first step.

Nope.
The problem is that there's people running Microsoft who still think the way to sell more Windows 8 isn't to listen to customers and fix Windows 8's problems, it's to make (eg.) the next release of Direct3D Windows-8-only thereby "forcing" people to upgrade (LOL!)
First people hate metro or are afraid to buy a new unit because what if they hate Metro too? I'd tell them "Not a problem, anybody that buys ANY copy of Win 8, OEM, upgrade, whatever, if you try it and don't like it? We'll trade your key for the equivalent Windows 7 key so you have nothing to lose"...BAM! You just fixed the windows 8 problem right there.
But...the tablet and app store is where the money's at, not those stuffy old corporations who only do boring real work!

You're completely out of touch with everybody under the age of 25.

That's what every Citroen salesman used to parrot, yes.
And it's true! (for some models with self-levelling suspension)
eg. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HK2nTRvm_s
But will never be able to answer questions like: does a 29-er mtb fit the trunk without folding the back seats.
Vajk
No, but that's way better than lying to you by saying "Yes, of course, I do it all the time!"
(which is what a human car salesman would do).
People are so institutionalized that they can't even operate a PC without a start menu! T
Of course they can....but the start menu was put into Windows for a reason. That reason hasn't gone away so why should the start menu be removed?
Quite. What will they do for income then? Is that good?
Why don't we go back to making everything by hand and working the fields with shovels...?
What if there's a squirrel, a cat, a dog or a frickin' deer on the road?
Yeah! Because human drivers always react perfectly in those situations, right?
At least a robot will have a procedure in place for the unexpected, rather than panicking and violently yanking a random control.

Don't forget that the USA originally took that land where the Jews are currently living by force (in 1947).
The USA now has to back the Israelis up or it might appear weak and end up as Palestine's bitch! (or something like that)
why we keep spending money interfering with civil wars 1/2 way around the world??
War is Peace.
It's all explained in the novel "1984".
It should have been fine this iteration. The required fixes aren't major* and there was no shortage of people telling them what's wrong with it.
* Mostly just to add a start button and optional boot-to-desktop (for all those desktop machines, duh!)
Oh, for mod points...

Did he make any reference to the numerous times government workers have left laptops full of personal information in pubs or the back of taxis?
Is he going to pass tougher laws for that, too?
Did any of his "cites" refer to a concrete example of information that could help a terrorist or put somebody's life in danger?
Or... was it just handwaving and lots of "Telling the public what we're up to is bad, mmmmkay?"
Yep, I've always wondered why it isn't just CTRL-Z...

... because what we REALLY need is more studios taking LESS chances...
Some of the greatest movies have been box-office flops.
Don't worry, the number of page views, etc. will be proportional to the hype generated by the studios.
This article has put the cart before the horse. They only found a correlation, not the causation.
Would have been even niftier if they told us last Tuesday so we could travel North a bit...
If it's likely to cause aurora in locations that don't usually get aurora, it's definitely news.
That argument only holds if they post the news the day it happens, not after the event...
(which they always do)
