Nah. All it means is that Rapiscan shares have peaked and their main competitor's have bottomed out. The politicians have bought all available shares in the competitor and need them to start heading upwards, hence the switch of government contracts.
Yep. The problem is that the game they play has nothing to do with fixing the climate.
It's all about ass-covering and not appearing 'weak' in front of your peers. The same game that governs high schools, street gangs, prisons and, to a lesser extent, chimpanzee groups.
Haven't they practically done that already? I remember a Mythbusters episode where an air traffic controller was able to successfully talk the (untrained) team through an emergency landing in a simulated 747.
...and at the end of the episode they said that an airline would NEVER do that, they'd just hit the 'autoland' button.
Did you know that an awful lot of landings are automatic anyway? The pilot just sits there and watches. All airliners have a legal requirement to land automatically at least once a month or they lose their certification. They often do more than that, especially at foggy airports or when visibility is poor.
These days the pilot is mainly there for when things go wrong, not for when things are going right.
It's a tiny fraction of the "war on..." and bailout money. And it would solve the energy problem. Why aren't people falling over each other to do it? Because the oil barons who run the country don't want it, that's why.
The problem lies in the fact the issue isn't black and white. Yes fossil fuels cause Global Warming. However we can't get get off the stuff
Can't? Or don't want to?
Why can't electricity be produced without fossil fuels? A fraction of the current investment in warmongering could build some of those next-gen nuclear power stations that have been discussed here many times. The ones with almost zero safety/waste issues who's theory has been known for decades but none have been built...what's going on there?
Should you add a forum to a web site? Are you ready to moderate it, defend it against spammers and irate users, manage lost passwords and deal with intellectual property disputes? A forum doesn't sleep, a forum doesn't go on holiday.
This.
I once ran one for about two weeks then turned it off in disgust. It wasn't worth the effort for the return it gave me. Bulletin boards bring out the worst of the Internet.
(Especially the popular ones - the spammers are constantly scanning for them and have attack scripts lined up and ready to go. Captchas won't help...they have minimum-wage people sat all day long solving captchas)
If you buy iPad minis from people in gas stations you're not really "unknowing", are you?

Yes. You're late to the party.
I don't live in the USA so I guess I missed it.
Building things that take 20 years to until they're operational and properly permitted is financially dangerous
As compared to wars...which have no financial "danger" because you know exactly where the money will end up.
One of these, then: https://rickoshea.wordpress.com/2008/10/03/smart-car-redesign-kits-anyone/
However this is a concept car by the looks of it.
It looks like they took a Smart car and put different body panels on the nose/wheels. The roof/windshield are exactly the same...
I'm going to order so many pizzas to be sent to random addresses with the name "sam spam" etc they're likely to get the message pretty quickly.
Be sure to order a spam, spam, spam, spam, cheese, tomato and spam topping.
"...doubled down"?
Is that the latest trendy phrase over there?
Scott Adams mentioned it today, I thought he was exaggerating. Apparently not.
Companies should honor requests for people to be able to opt out
No, they should all be "op-in"...
(...otherwise they just set up a new company every week and we have to "opt-out" all over again)

My kingdom for a mod point.
Not a bad idea. That would probably catch most of them...
Why not just flatten the final result into a simple image?
You know how I know you didn't even bother to read the entire question...?
A VM can have a 32-bit OS installed.
vast investments of money which won't happen.

Yes, unless you're talking 375 amps at 12 volts vs 375 amps at 120 volts (which is quite a lot)
Did somebody seriously mod that "informative"??? Sheesh.
(Right now it's modded "+2 infromative"...)
Ummm, but he isn't, he's talking watts...
I had a plate of last night's chilli for breakfast. It was still very hot!
I once tried blocking by IP address but with all the botnets out there it simply doesn't work.
Everything is relayed/proxied now. The days of being able to block Eastern Europe, Africa and most of Asia are long gone.

Yep. If you modify anything in the code your life will be a constant battle of re-integrating your changes into every new release that appears.
The downside is it will be constantly full of porn+Viagra+poker spam.
The spammers have got their scripts for attacking all the popular bulletin boards down to a fine art...
I bet the only people who get this problem are the same people who fold paperback books completely back on themselves when they read them.
