    Study was run by a guy at Duke University in tobacco country. They have a vested interest in keeping pot illegal?

    Why? They could grow/sell it just as easily as they grow/sell tobacco.

    Unless their servers go down that is, in which case you'll be stuck without any search functions.

    The real problem with all these compressed air vehicles is the diabatic nature of compressing air. When you compress it, you generate a huge amount of heat that's hard to use and slows down the filling process (since the pressures are higher than normal, which will be problematic for the service station idea)

    From what I've seen the filling station compresses air into a big tank, you connect your tank to theirs and the air is transferred to your car very quickly with no heat problems (the air was pre-compressed, remember...). Maybe the garage can use the heat for something useful like compressing more air. On the plus side the car gets free aircon (a good thing in India!). Maybe future cars could use the cold air to compress more air in a cycle and get more efficiency.

    I read an interview with Adrian Lamo once where he said that when he turned in Manning, he didn't think Assange would actually go through and release the State Department cables. He thought Assage would put Manning's safety above releasing the cables.

    You do remember who it was that leaked most of the cables, right? Hint: it wasn't Wikileaks.

    We have a movement towards lights out datacenters, but even so, some things should just have to be done in person.

    What you need is a physical switch on the front of the machine and a robot to go and flip it for you.

    The robot can be padlocked when not in use.

    Please cool it with the sarcasm. I just want to know what to do between having written a song and releasing it to make sure I don't get sued.

    If that happens:
    a) It won't be because the song is similar, it will be because you're encroaching on somebody's turf without paying them any money.
    b) The court case won't be decided on whether the songs are similar, it will be decided by who has the best lawyers/most money.

    A big part of the problem is:

    a) They left the power supply up to the users and people are using the wrong type (sorry, 500mA phone chargers aren't good enough)
    b) The USB ports are only rated at 100mA so a lot of USB devices don't work (people don't RTFM before buying).

    Sure, the USB wifi dongle was a bitch to get running at first, but for a $35 toy I can velcro to an unused LCD and deliver streaming media throughout the house, I'm happy.

    Isn't that also down to power? The USB ports on the Pi are rated at 100mA, it's pretty obvious to anybody with a clue that an awful lot of USB devices aren't going to work (duh!).

    There's no real appeal, except the concept of a tiny $35 computer, that might make a fun toy and in a worst case scenario can be used as a cheap media PC.

    If they cost $100, suddenly nobody would care about them.

    Despite the fact that another $65 would soon pay for itself in saved time, even at minimum wage.

    One of the big delays in early production runs was getting the thing certified. If they change it they'll have to do it all over again.

    It's $35. It would cost most westerners more $ in time/effort to get it replaced than to buy a new one.

    No need to worry.... if you start out thinking like that you'll never write a song, ie. you won't have that problem!
