  1. If you ONLY consider pixel fill rate; there are many other factors in rendering a scene.

That's why I said "Assuming I have enough..." - we don't know where the bottleneck is in that demo.

But that doesn't really matter. Polygon counts can be reduced, number of reflections can be reduced, it can be tweaked to fit lesser cards and it shows that NVIDIA is exaggerating the need for special instructions.

  2. True... it's actually more like a quarter, ie. my $150 graphics card should be able to do 1080p at the same frame rate.

(assuming I have enough GRAM, etc)

  3. And remember: That's at 4k resolution. At 1080p you only need half the graphics card to do the same thing.

  4. In six months that will be a $300 GPU. In a year it will be $150.

I just spent $400 on a 13" Windows laptop that's as slim as my $1200 MacBook, similar metal case, full HD screen (non-reflective!), good keyboard, etc.

Side by side, look and feel ... I honestly like it more than my 13" MacBook Air.

Now Imagine if I spent $800...

You evidently do not understand what it takes to recycle. The amount of cleaning needed to make most recyclables ready to be recycled is cost prohibitive.

So ... what we need is to improve the recyclability of our packaging instead of whining about how difficult it is?

We can start by banning those tetra-bricks and move on to not using any brightly colored plastics (which can't be easily recycled to get that exact same color).

The answer is automation. We need intelligent trash-sorting robots.

That, and making the people selling the stuff responsible for the cost of dealing with the used packaging.

(ie. put the prices up to reflect the total cost of the product)

If we were talking about nuclear reactors there would be no shortage of people reminding of of "decommissioning cost". Where are they when the subject is single-use packaging?

What we really need to do it put up the price of the contents to cover the true cost of the packaging.

True, but it's among the longest lived.

Gases like methane are more potent initially but they break down much faster (maybe 20 years for methane to turn into CO2).

CO2 can hang around for hundreds of years, maybe even 1000 years.
