    People like me have already eaten that particular lunch, many years ago.

  3. People dont just want handouts. They want to be able to prosper and live with dignity, do meaningful work, and contribute to their country.

    I assure you there's a LOT of people who do want handouts and are quite happy to sit on the sofa all day drinking beer.

    Microsoft removed the cheesy Aero interface for one reason only: mobile devices could not run it efficiently.

    It's almost as if you of abstraction layers. There's no reason it can use Aero on the desktop and something different on a mobile device.

    They could even let the user choose what they want!

    Yep, and the way you never know what sort of OS you'll be running tomorrow.

    MS has given themselves total control over your computer. You have no say in the matter.

    Obviously they're not going to delete all your files, but ... what happens if they push out a bad update and everybody's machine is out of action for a week?

    What happens if they decide a new monthly subscription model is the way forward for Windows "professional" users? Insert credit card...?

    He also assumes that our printers, etc., will have drivers available and we won't need to spend $1000 for the privilage of junking them.

    And ... that all our documents and data files will still be there after an "upgrade". Mine certainly weren't when I tried it. Luckily for me the rollback to Win7 worked or I'd have lost everything.

    (yes, I had a backup, I'm not that stupid)

    It would make more sense to try to establish a precedent with a defendant which had fewer resources.

    Nah, they'd have to go after Apple eventually.

    Might as well start with the toughest case. If you can win against Apple then everybody else will lose almost by default.

    PS: Governments have plenty of resources, too.

  15. If I go to google and type 'disable' the first result I see in the autocomplete box is 'disable cortana'

    The second result is 'disable cortana windows 10'.

    I suspect foul play by Google: People should be searching for that with Bing, right?

    (True fact: 'Disable cortana', 'download firefox' and 'download chrome' are the only searches I've ever done on Bing)

    Yeah, I've thought about the difference as well, but all-wheel-drive vehicles with vehicle stability assist do really seem to make snow- and ice-covered roads seem like pavement on a dry, sunny day a lot of the time.

    So.... you're saying that cars work better when a computer is controlling the brakes and power delivery instead of a human?
