    I think its more than just thinner devices. Keep on adding parts and whatnot is the culprit. Apple right can do it right, but Samsung is running into problems trying to do what Apple is doing.

    Weird.

    It's almost as if somebody's managed to connect to the Internet but they never heard of a single site where you can type "iPhone fire" and see pages of results.

    If only there was a way for a massive tech company with highly skilled engineers to find out if a phone is overheating its batteries.

    Like holding it in your hand, for example.

    And why would they burst into flames when not in use and not charging? Only rtb61 knows the answer...maybe Samsung could hire him!

    The most unsettling part is that Samsung knew of Klering's phone, and didn't say anything.

    That reminds me of how Tesla handled the first few fatal accidents with the Autopilot.

    All this is just media frenzy, Samsung is no worse than anybody else. Does anybody else remember "Nokia fire" back in the day?

    WTF are you on about?

    If you crack open an iPhone 7 the battery just lifts out (there's plenty of teardowns on the web for you to look at pictures)

    All we're talking about is the waterproof seal. You're trying to prove it has to be massive and would add immense bulk to the device.

    (which it clearly doesn't, it's just a very thin rubber gasket)

    The only difference between an "integrated battery" and a removable one is that the removable battery is encased in plastic packaging (and is actually a battery).

    It's almost as if you believe that's an inviolable law of the universe: Batteries MUST have a rigid plastic case.

    I wonder where I've been buying those batteries without a case all these years. Beats me.

    It wouldn't be difficult to get 100 cellphone batteries together on the other side of security and use them to start a major fire on an aircraft.

    (ie. Send 100 people through with cellphones and gather the batteries together...)

    Could you bring an aircraft down that way? I don't know.
