  1. Extreme meaning nested 8 deep, so that the inner loop is off the edge of the window, and if you resize or scroll it then it's still to confusing to read.

    You could try using an editor that lets you set TAB to 2 characters instead of 8.

  2. Get a better IDE. They scroll right and left just fine.

    Even better: Get a screen which can display more than 40 columns of text.

  3. Goto. I use that (in C) for error handling all the time, and frankly, it is about the cleanest way to do it I have seen.

    Or... you could use a proper programming language, with exceptions.

    Using GOTO won't save you from having to clean up all those little memory allocations and free() statements that you just jumped past.

    C++ stack unwinding _will_ do that for you. Automatically.

    (And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the *real* difference between C and C++. It even has a name: RAII)

    Yep. I was shocked, SHOCKED the first time I made my macbook do some work. The whistling, whooshing noise is unbelievable. Vacuum cleaner doesn't begin to describe it.

    Good decision by Apple to not have any holes in the case (that would spoil the design!) and to force all the air through a tiny little hole under the screen. Not.

    a person on the street should not be more than a 15 minute walk (I'll negotiate up to 30) from a public pay phone. You may scoff, but the next time your phone is out of battery, stolen, lost, or you are simply new to an area and haven't worked out a phone yet (or chose not to) then I think you'll be thanking me for this suggestion.

    What number would you call?

    Does anybody even remember a phone number these days?
