  1. Re:Congradulations Colorado on Colorado May Allow Cities To Provide Wifi · · Score: 1

Wow, you just like to be angry.

I never said I was in favor of this. I just wondered why you assumed that a city-run Wi-Fi service would automatically charge every citizen for service. If I don't have water hooked up at my place, I don't get charged.

Instead of answering my question you make a silly remark about metering, whoring for the "Funny" moderation.

The last time I checked, I wasn't paying my city for water services whether I was using it or not. Where do you get the idea that Wi-Fi will be different?

  6. Legal Precedent on BitTorrent Inherently Illegal? · · Score: 5, Informative

There is already legal precedent that P2P file sharing technology in itself is indeed legal. The Federal Appeals court that ruled was talking about networks like Morpheus and Grokster, but I would think the precedent set also applies to Bittorrent.

Here's a quote from a news story back in August:

"History has shown that time and market forces often provide equilibrium in balancing interests, whether the new technology be a player piano, a copier, a tape recorder, a video recorder, a personal computer, a karaoke machine, or an MP3 player," Thomas wrote. "Thus, it is prudent for courts to exercise caution before restructuring liability theories for the purpose of addressing specific market abuses, despite their apparent present magnitude."

Quite an authoritative review from someone who's never seen the show...

    3) No more AV component switching.

A year or two ago I bought an "intelligent" A/V switchbox that switched composite and s-video, and would even convert composite inputs to s-video outputs. But the great thing was it switched to whatever source you just turned on.

I had DirecTV on #1, DVD on #2, VCR on #3, videogame on #4. While watching the Sat, turn on the DVD, poof! Turn off the DVD, and back to sat. Worked great. Unfortunately, I don't have it anymore, and can't find it online to give you a link.
