    Wow, I had never heard about the security hole in ROT-26.

    Personally, I think I'll skip ROT-39 and go straight to the state-of-the-art ROT-52, if for no other reason because the attackers are still trying to break ROT-39!

    At the risk of feeding a troll, it is most definitely open source because you can download the entire source code (from RedHat), modify it if you want, and roll your own distribution with it. Which is exactly what Scientific Linux and CentOS does.

    I don't need a tire pressure gauge, a fountain pen, blood pressure monitor, or a cigarette lighter in my phone. I'll use my phone for making phone calls.

    The requests come from Director-level management, and usually after they already know they're not being productive. It's usually to determine whether or not to limit or terminate someone's Internet access. Although there also have been occasions where someone has complained about walking into an office and seeing porn on the screen - potential sexual harrassment fuel.

    Our employee AUP specifically states that the company equipment belongs to the company, and there should be no expectation of privacy. It also states we perform monitoring of Internet and email activity. All employees are required to agree to the policy before they are granted access. Supervisors occasionally do request reports from our logs when they're trying to determine how productive their employees are. This is one of the reasons we have the logging in place.

    Sounds like recess needs to be banned. Replace it with some visualization exercises designed to simulate the stimulation of actual playtime.

    I hate to tell ya, but Microsoft's licensing has always been a major headache for IT shops.

    Except their Corporate Edition software wasn't originally written by Symantec. It was originally Intel LANDesk Virus Protect, co-written by Trend Micro, and sold to IBM before Symantec got it. Look at the registry on a machine that has Corporate Edition installed. You'll find a lot of your settings in HKLM\Software\Intel\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentV ersion.

    Firefox was supposed to be serious IE rival But Microsoft was never worried. And it turns out they didn't have anything to worry about. According to TFA, most of Firefox's market share came not from IE, but from other Mozilla browsers and Opera.

    Firefox was supposed to be more secure than IE. But exploits for both browsers are close in numbers

    All we have now is a new Mozilla browser. Nothing else has changed. As soon as the next third-party "IE-killer" browser comes out, Firefox will lose it's market share to the newcomer too.

    You would think since Firefox is open-source, it would be a trivial matter to determine the format of the cache files by examining the source code.

    That, and the fact that the Defcon record was set using standard 802.11b radios rather than proprietary technology, and that the proprietary technology only beat Wi-Fi by 12.2 miles.
