KPNQwest is an operator. They own the pipe. Consider a car Ford makes the vehicle Exxon provides the fuel. No what does the driver do,

Nope, they use DECT and are interoperable with other DECT systems like the ones from Philips and Nortel. I tried it and it works.

  4. Re:Look at this study for what it is... on Studies Say Video Games Increase Violent Behavior · · Score: 1

There's no statement that this proves anything. Exactly, this whole "study" is conducted to support their "GAAM" theory. They expect that playing video games increases agressive behaviour, both in the long and the short run. Step one they take to prove that is showing the correlation you mention. But as you said correlation != causation. The second experiment is not just that, it's worse. Basically what they say is:

Our GAAM theory predicts that playing violent games will cause people to be more agressive because of playing violent videogames directly afterwards and in the long run. This test shows that if somebody has played a violent game for twenty minutes they tend to be more aggresive directly afterwards (dubious). Therefor our theory is correct and people will be more agressive in the long run.

This study stinks bigtime. Proving a theory with wishfull thinking is NOT scientific.

Yeah, just like the old HP mini I got. Build in 1971 when core memory really was build out of magnetic cores. But I wonder if this is not something like the light-computers promised a while back. Never heard anything of it again. Maybe time for a new acronym, Yet Another Alternative Computing Technology (YAACT) ?

  6. Re:Reality is almost as strange a fiction on Intel Goes for Display Encryption · · Score: 1

Yes, I see a REALLY big connection between this and the PIII serial number. Remember that the purpose of the serial number was, according to intel, to facilitate e-commerce. The way it should work was that you order a movie/program and supply your CPUID. Then your copy of the program/movie or a critical part of it would be encrypted using this CPUID as a key. That should prevent you of "sharing" your downloaded program/movie with others as their cpu would not be able to decode it. Exactly the same goes for HDCP. You will have to present your key of your monitor to the supplier of the movie/program. This key will be used to encode the movie or used in a graphical routine in the program so that it will only work with your monitor. So basically it is the same thing. Now why intel is doing this is simple: you will need intel products to be able to buy things online. That is also one of the reasons I think the CPUID was doomed to fail. No selfrespecting softwaremaker would limit his program to run only on intel P3 proccesors. The chances of HDCP are slightly better as other companies can easily license the technology and there could be quite a few big institutions backing it. (Think MPAA and alike). But it still sucks. If your monitor breaks, or you get a better one, all your purchased movies/programs will be worthless. Hmm, that will prevent people from buying new monitors and intel could be selling less products :)

Yup, administering a network while drinking a cool beer on the beach is definitely one of the nicest ways I earned money. (Altough I used my laptop with a GSM pccard for that). But in a recent interview I saw here on Dutch television I heard some very interesting things a mobile provider wants to do in the future. Like using your mobile phone as a credit card. For example, you dial a pizza line, the display of your phone presents a menu of all available flavors and sorts of pizza's, you select your pizza and can pay for it too. The amount will be charged on your phone account.
