And they probably make all the money back from people who don't stand up to them in some way. If it's really possible to beat them, there should be some campaign to let people know the real risks and options so it will seem less scary to not completely submit.
I still wonder why Mapquest is so much popular as compared to Google Maps.
Maybe because it's good. Maybe because it was there first. Maybe because not everybody loves Google unconditionally. Maybe because you don't need a satellite image to find directions. I don't know.
I think you should start thinking too. Ask yourself if those attempts failed because communism doesn't work. Or did they fail because economic sanctions in those cases reduced the resources below the level that would be enough to sustain the entire population. Or was it because those cases were only communism in name rather than practice. Or if you feel better, just keep saying I'm not looking at the real world.
I don't know if you consider capitalism and free market economy to be the same thing, but I've thought a lot about capitalism versus communism. I think in a system of communism, everybody will have what they need as long as the system has enough resources for everybody. In a system of capitalism, some people will capitalize and end up with more than they need, while others will consequentially end up with less than they need. So I think communism is a better system because, assuming there is enough for everybody, communism would guarantee everybody gets enough while capitalism would guarantee some people would be deprived.
Since this seems to be a biological thing rather than a socially engineered one, I'd wonder who is considered the more dominant male in this case. Is it the guy who is big and strong enough to physically force other guys to succumb to him, or is it the guy who is rich enough to make a phone call and have other guys eliminated? I ask this because our economic system seems to give all of the power to the guys with money, but to me the ones who stand on their own seem more attractive.
I don't know how easy it would be to take out Internet Explorer, but I bet if he finds some way to force people to download Safari in order to get iTunes (the way he forces them to download Quicktime) then he could instantly have more market share than Firefox and Opera. And if those Slashdot comments about Safari being more "standards-compliant" than Opera and Firefox are actually true, then technically this should be a good thing.
I think this problem is a good example of why companies should take a Computer Science degree seriously instead of assuming a three-hour programming class will make an employee capable of doing what's best for the company.
The inverse of that would be to say that if the moderation system *doesn't* work, then it's just poorly aligned with your own personal values.... somehow, I doubt you'd agree with that one
I think I would agree with that. The point is the result of the moderation system has nothing to do with who is right, wrong, insightful, or flamebait. It's all about the personal whims of whoever has the ability to moderate at the time. So whether it works or not is relative to your personal feelings about the results of said moderation.
"You're right. Theres no way the people who think 128kbps mp3s sound good could hear the difference between 1080i and 1080p. Those of us who use flac and sennie HD650s, however, can hear the distortion in a 1080i video signal from another room."
This post was modded funny and the parent was modded insightful. That seems backwards to me.
There's nothing disgusting or insulting posted as long as you're not Chinese, Russian, Black, Christian, or a Microsoft fan. To say the moderation system works is to say the groupthink here is well-aligned with your own personal values.
I guess that's cool as long as our government and its army have only good intentions for these wars and these planes.
Maybe all that falling causes them to learn to fear heights at an early age, rather than having it built in.

You'll be cool until it turns out the center of the huge gaseous planet is a big blender.
I'll put a wig on it and send it back to them labeled as Paris Hilton.
Why don't you try getting sex on Earth first?
Some Hollywood executive would mess it up and decide to make Tron a Camaro or something.

My first display was a Lite-Brite.

I think I'd choose functionality over security, if it was some function I like.

The clipboard thing sounds like something useful, that maybe should be in Firefox.

All of them.
I'm pretty sure the name, address, account number, and routing number, are all you need to do an online check.
And we thank you.

I guess the only thing reasonably certain is it's the first time they got caught.

So why isn't there a "metoo" tag on the article, like the ones in which Microsoft follows somebody?
I'll take the Hoff.
