    In the Midwest US, I'd worry more about the Aquifers being drained.

    I've also read that a lot of the power line/cell tower 'cancer clusters' are explained by contractor massively (like 100x) overusing herbicides to prep the construction site; they think that no one will live there, so they dump enough poison to kill the neighborhood, literally.

    Keeps the vines off the equipment tho.

    Our house was built in the 1940's, and we'll have to make a decision, refit everything plumbing and electrical, tearing open every wall; of tear the whole thing down and start fresh.

    It'll probably depend more on the legal bullshit (remodel permit vs. new building...)
