In these days of cell phones and VoIP not everyone has a landline. I know that I don't.

wow...not only did Ian beat me on submitting the story, but then when I thought I was gonna be cool and show all of slashdot "the secret", I got beaten there too. I just can't win with this google moon story. Oh well, maybe I can submit a dupe?

If the moon landing were faked, then the studio would NOT be on THE MOON

Zoom all the way into the map to find out the shocking secret that we suspected all along!!!
A guy from princeton made some posts claiming that his team had run the entire course and then some last night. They can be found in this thread
ps: they haven't made the final roster yet.
I'm not saying to fire the human guides, they're clearly better for group tours. I'm saying for the single person who may have a more vested interest on going solo, this could be the better solution. Let the person learn more about a particular artist, or art style, something more in depth than the tour guide who'll more than likely just glance over a section or not have to battle with 8 other people to get a question answered from a guide. It's all right there in the linux device. In fact, renting the devices might bring in revenue that would let them keep a few more people on staff. It doesn't have to be either or, remember all the gray that lies in between the black and white.
If they use it correctly it could be great, imagine for one person looking at a painting it could be a 2 minute quick rundown of the painting and it's significance, and for someone else standing right next to that person it could be a one hour in depth bio of the artist, a demo of how the paint style is done, a video of the inspiration place of the painting, show work of the work of his mentor's and people who were inspired by the artist and then show you a realtime gps map of where to find their work in the same museum and on and on and on. It could be as much or as little as you want it to be, it all depends on how well the venue uses it.
That sounds a bit more paranoid than I believe. I think it's a good idea, to allow guided tours without needing a human drag you around and bore you with sections of the tour you don't care about and allows you to linger on exhibits you like. Plus the venue could allow the tour to be in your native language which is a huge upside. Overall, I like the idea and I see it as having a lot of potential.
It's no more limiting than any other online seller that will ship to other countries. You only eliminate shipping costs, which isn't intended to make a company any extra money anyway. Pretty much anything that can be bought online can be shipped anywhere. Besides, why turn down that extra cash from overseas sales.
While I'm not a big Anime fan (tastes are limited to the overly popular Akira and Ghost in the Shell), I wish more media companies would have more open thinking like Mr. Williams and ADV. Instead of vilifying the technology, use it to your advantage. If there is an enemy to the media companies, it isn't the method, but the users, the method can benefit anyone willing to use the technology, including the media companies. So I applaud this move, and I hope it works extremely well for them, so maybe those who want to defend bittorrent have a good arguement in their favor and if they still decide to shut it down; don't worry, something better is waiting in the wings for sure.
Yeah I get that and all, but I mean, what about new Jedi. Obi-Wan was already a master Jedi. They let their numbers dwindle down to two. But thousands of spirits existed in the force, why couldn't they have taught new padawan.
An interesting question just popped into my head. What keeps the spirits of dead Jedi from teaching their ways to others? I know they couldn't do the physical, but they could teach the philosophy, and possibly even council, even during the old Jedi council meetings, not all people were physically present, they showed up via hologram. Seems like the same thing as the spirits.
I think it'd be awesome for art in the home. When company comes over: fine art, when I'm just chillin: movie posters, pictures of the family, whatever. I love this idea for in home. But what will the cost be like?
Isn't there a Firefox extension that lets you disable Flash ads? and as far as the ESPN video thing goes, you have to install that first. Something which I don't recommend.
No, but Chris Rock would be an awesome 'Jazz'. I also don't see the problem with getting star talent, the original movie had Leonard Nimoy, Orson Welles, Eric Idle and Judd Nelson, not all A list celebrities, but definitely above the leagues of the cartoon they were voicing and they did awesome. I personally, would love if they could get the original voice of Optimus. It'd be a pity if they couldn't.
It's not quite that powerful. (rimshot)
Something like this?

Oh and as far as "the entire course" they mean a test course not the GC course which isn't released until 2 hours before the challenge itself.
If I remember correctly, they were referring to last year's course.

...and we wonder why people hate us. Some people even have the nerve to call us arrogant. Imagine that.

Solution to problem one. Also to not show a bias
