Apple has done a pretty good job in shooting themselves in the foot, in regards to the Pro Markets. Intel chips didn't make the current MacPro a 5 year old boat anchor, their non-expandable design did and their refusal to address the needs of their users.
All that I'm coming away with from this is a whole lot of people saying,..."my advice to you is...." and they probably don't have a freaking clue about either their "advice" or any credible experience. I think the active duty postings probably get it closer to the truth.
Yeah, let me know how that works out for you.
When you have children and they drive you to the edge with their bullshit and you've tried everything and still, you're spawning the child from hell. You tell me that blistering the ass off the little shit isn't what needs to be done. Oh, of course, can't do that in this day and age. Don't want to stunt the emotional development or world view of the little prince or princess. Just tell them that they can do no wrong and that anything they want is owed to them by the world.
Oh wait. That's the current crop of shits coming of age right now. It's not truly their fault, the parents are to blame. We just have to live with the results of their bad decisions.
Reading and patting each other on the back and being all witty and intelligent. But what are WE going to DO? How about an analog version of/.ing congress with our collective voices? Otherwise this is all just a big wet fart.
With the ease that a cell jamming technology (of even a building sized area) can be purchased online, how is it that a government sanctioned agency can't install them in the prison blocks and simply end the problem?
You're correct about that story. I remember reading that. Here's a link to it [ http://homepage.mac.com/simx/technonova/publications/the_difference_between_piracy_and_steal.html ]. And while yes, there probably were a 3 to 1 ratio, this particular case is somewhat unique in that the piracy was generated as a backlash to Bungie's perceived sellout to Microsoft. Granted, some of that anger was probably deserved. Halo for Mac was pretty much a done deal, it was shown running at Macworld. Then it disappeared and an Xbox, then PC version came out. By the time the Mac community got it, people were pretty pissed. I pirated it "just to show those bastards". I also bought it, later on. While the whole piracy thing probably hurt Macsoft (the porting company), it was "justified" in the minds of the Mac faithful for the sellout and slap in the face (feel about it as you will, it was to many).
Actually it's because I'm usually multitasking and thinking ahead to the next thing I'm doing and the fingers don't always keep up with the train of thought.
Though, in retrospect, I like your reply better than mine.
Why is Apple evil for making the iPhone? Is it because they don't give it away to the people with a copy of Kafka? No one is putting a pistol to your head (though that might not be a bad idea, in some examples) and making you buy anything. If they choose to make an app store and the hardware to play with it - isn't it their IP to do with as they please? You either agree and use it or you don't. Just because they don't do things as you would have them do, does not make them evil - they just aren't doing what you want.
What no one is saying is that the kernel patches used in the PurpleRa1n jb are not complete. There's errors and then there's the issues of things like Winterboard not working with PB. There's a variety of issues beyond just having a jailbroken phone that using this will get you. Users are best served by actually waiting for the official DevTeam jb. Yeah, you have to wait, but it's going to be done right.
Hey, they make fine fireworks. Tie a couple of those suckers together and you have a reasonable two stage rocket. Now they need to work on it not hitting the building next door. See! Plenty of space for our program.
Oh. You meant higher than that tree over there?
You know, there's a new santuary state that's forming. It's called Mexico. You can be proud to fly the Mexican flag there. You can be proud to work there. And you'll never be called illegal.
Don't let the gate hit you in the ass on the way out.
Thank you for visiting. Now go home.

Isn't the very act of posting it on/. going bring about that which they don't want? Or is it their way of being coy and meaning, instead, c'mon big boy - show me what you got.
Perhaps I should drink my coffee first. This all way too much before coffee.
It's "joe six-pack" comments that like, that made Microsoft. People who accept mediocrity instead of aspiring to something better - that's the mentality that Microsoft sells into.
I've been a SPAMCOP member for years and other than the odd time I've fouled something up, it's worked flawlessly. I'm subscribed to all the BH lists + spamassassin and it cuts my SPAM from 2000 + a week to less than 3 a day. Lists work. If you don't like them, get your ISP to fix their services. Spammers only exist because of loopholes and slacker admin policies.
It's harsh that sometimes people get caught up in the crossfire, but there's a reason - usually a good one - why it happens. The author of the article knew what he was getting into, he should have built his house out of bricks - not straw. I trust the sysadmins that make the lists *more* than I trust users to take a hand in fixing their bot ridden boxes and stopping the problem.
That's not entirely true, unless the westcoast is different from the eastcoast. The WiFi routers that Verizon uses in Los Angeles are all WEP on out of the box.
Yeah, Microsoft is jumping the Tiger gun by 5 days. That's to be expected. With the specs that are quoted, what exactly is the net gain to the enduser? Are users going to suddenly go, "Oh! Gee, that's what I've been missing all this time?". Other than the increased memory footprint, even on OSX there's very little in way of "Holy Cow!" increases for the enduser. This isn't to say that this isn't the groundwork for some very interesting long term gains. Overall, those that leverage the advantages of 64bit design in the most inovative ways are going to distinguish themselves - that alone will rule out Redmond. Inovation isn't their hallmark.
Now, if I could just get a 64bit version of Textedit. Then we'd be cooking with gas.
As much as I hear the, "...artists...use the internet to distribute" line, has anyone ever considered the ramifications of what they're wishing for? Personally? I'd be pissed if I had to go to upteenzillion websites to purchase music. But they could form a clearinghouse that sells their music and manages distribution - Doh! Wait, we're back where we started from...

Project Chess. 'nuff said.

I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
Thanks for that heads up. I totally feel like you've things under control. After all, what could go wrong? ...go wrong. ...go wrong.

Because most people don't the skills needed to actually build it. Go back to your corner.

Pokerize the swine, Lloyd! Pokerize him, good buddy!
Only in Mexico would you use the words "scientist" and "cheap tequila" in the same article.

It would seem that the servers at http://www.synergylawgroup.com/Synergy_Law_Group/o ur_attorneys.html are a bit under load. I tried sending them a note about their bottom feeding partner and got this:

Hell, I'm willing to march on Washington on this one. You can take my packets when you pry them out of my cold, dead hands.
