EA just gobbled up Bioware. This is the first PC title that is published by EA+Bio. I still prefer a single phone home than continually scratching the DVD, but i will surely apply a no-cd crack if they want me online all the time. I already planned to make the Windows part of my machine offline, it is bad enough updates want me to be online.
I have a 3-4 years old machine (not real multiprocessor, just hyperthreading, 1G memory). When i play HD movies, VLC works perfectly on my Windows, Mplayer playback is jerky. I prefer not to boot into Windows, but sometimes i have to.
If Ubuntu would have been pushed this aggressively down the throat of customers, Ubuntu would be the most 'used' OS:) Being unable to buy anything else than Vista helps boosting its sales records.
As the summary said, he still has a chance to get Yahoo. We, who see him as a sweaty gorilla, are not necessarily see his qualities as the M$ board sees them.
Life on Mars will be at best microbial. What if 90% of all life that started in the Galaxy got stuck/snuffed out at that stage?
What if both Mars and Earth were beginning life from a failed alien terraforming attempt? If WE ever try terraforming, not all of our attempts will be successful. We might even 'successfully' die out before actually colonising a given planet.
From YFP (your frickin' post): "So... - Maybe it was bred. Perhaps using something sexy like DNA splicing. - More likely it was newly discovered. - Most likely, it was identified from one of the nigh endless lists of prior discoveries of beasties that might do something useful, and refined by breeding.
OK, so not created."
From TFA: "Nobles made the new cyanobacteria (also known as blue-green algae) by giving them a set of cellulose-making genes from a non-photosynthetic "vinegar" bacterium, Acetobacter xylinum, well known as a prolific cellulose producer."
Isn't this a plan to find a place for obsoleted technology? For all i know, regular HDD is going out of season soon, replaced by chips and memory crystals. Why would anyone want to use HDD in the future?
The problem with this approach is not because they 'take over' your machine (by consent). This is just a treatment of the symptom. The cure would be to sanitize and shield luser computers from zombie recruitment.
But Oracle is a big FOSS user. And you surely heard about they want to support RH Linux. What do you think, whom Oracle likes better? Windows or Linux?
What is a loss for proprietary software providers is a win for former proprietary software users. And to be honest, the latter are a bigger group, since the former is soon to be only M$.
Apparently you don't know much of people with whom you share this planet.
You and the previous answerer should take a peek at whales which are hunted 'for science' by the japanese whalers. Or other wild animals which are hunted for various parts. I'm not as silly to eat tiger testicles as you believe i am. But there ARE other people:)
Nor mental suffering. This whole hype is to pump up the value of their house. Hope they will get some hate mail, so at least the mental suffering will be true. They might suffer some mental problems, though. But that's not Google's fault.

It restricts people to use email normally.
These spammers should be imprisoned for life.

Sony already spiced some of their CDs with DMCA protected rootkits.
Apparently they want to demonstrate that there is no terrorist danger!
Otherwise they wouldn't be so brave to fly.

They are surely the closest to host an awakened AI.
Well, they apparently don't make zombies or raving monsters, yet. So they are not the Resident Evil.
Quite close, though, maybe in a few decades.
It is crappy on ff2.0.0.12 on Linux.
The question is: how do you catch them?

Where to send the scrap wood and nails you'll eat?
How long will these alligators survive, now that their blood became worthy?

It's on my desktop for ~8 years now. So i dunno, for me the year of Linux on the desktop has quietly passed, i don't even remember it.
Microsoft hired a former Iraqi Information Minister as its new Vista blogger.
Or Creative's drivers :) or anything else.
The only difference is that FOSS programmers are not forced to declare their stuff 'finished'.
