Honestly, mate, you sound like a bit of a hand wringer yourself.
The cops do have guns, in their cars. They choose rightly not to bandy them around in public. The British incidentally do the same.
In regards to age of consent. Do you find it objectionable to not be allowed to have sex with someone younger than 16? Or 18 if you are a legal guardian?
The airline one is indeed a stupid law.
I'm not trying to be a kiwi apologist, but your points are completely bogus and misleading. I split my time evenly between Aussie and NZ and I normally find NZ to be a lot more liberal in general. All countries have their seemingly idiotic laws, New Zealand just doesn't strike me as being exceptional in regards to this.
There are birds there that are regarded as land animals, the Weka is one, so is the Kakapo and the Kiwi. Plus I don't ever recall saying that the bats were classified as land mammals, I said they spend most of their time on the land. The point was that classifying something strictly as either land or airbourne according to species group can be quite misleading about its behavior.
My point was that the New Zealand bats spend a great deal of time on the ground. To say that they are completely removed from the ground is inaccurate.
Not trolling or anything, but I've had the extremely good fortune to have lived in different societies where one had gun control laws and the other didn't. The only real difference I saw in the papers on a day to day basis between the two was a marked lack of accidental death by gunshot wound in the country with gun control. The criminal element still used guns as their preferred method of slaughter regardless of the law. And not trying to sound like a "Think of the children" twit a lot of the accidental deaths were kids. Kid shows gun to friend, plays with it, loads it, bang, one gets fucked up. Kids love playing with things like that, matches, knives, guns, whatever.
As to if I think there should be a gun ban? Probably not, but I think the licensing should be very stringent. I used to have an AK-47 that I used as my general purpose gun (lived way out in the bush in Australia) it was cheap, simple and reliable, plus the magazine was such that I didn't have to carry extra ammo in boxes. The last thing I ever considered for this gun that was designed to kill people was to actually use it against a person. But to let someone in the city to have such a weapon without demonstrating clearly that they belong to a relevant club for sport use is irresponsible. If they want something for self protection then let them have a shotgun. As to handguns I'm still on the fence about them.
You make a good point there. I've seen that a fair bit in the places I've been. It's more a question of the social function (or dysfunction) that dictates the crime in an area, the weapons just act as a multiplier to the trend.
I wish the tax rate in my home countries (New Zealand and Australia) were that low. Over AU$50,000 and you are already in the 50% bracket, though I think that is raising to the high 50's this season.
I'm in the same boat as you. I can't see what all the fuss is about in regards to the size. I've been semi-pro for a few years now and have been shooting for about 10 years. The way I see cameras is that they are a tool. They are either capable of doing the job or they are not, whatever the brand/type of camera it may be.
Why some people harp on about some types of cameras and similarly rubbish others to the point of fanaticism is quite beyond me.
Plus it's amazing how many people have no idea about the 1918 Flu epidemic that killed between 50 - 100 million yet the only significant event that caused a heavy death toll that we often remember of the period was the Great War.
You're right. I'm involved in mid to large diesel powerplant's at work. Insofar as large engines are concerned, if you service, maintain and rebuild it correctly the engine will last much longer than you will. Untill recently the second ever engine built by Detroit Diesel (then known as GM Diesel) was in use in a fishing boat. It was originally in a locomotive in 1938. It was in excellent condition right up to it's last day of operation when the boat sunk. The only problems it ever really had was whenever someone fucked up setting up the governors and causing the engine to race.
Perhaps if the shuttle had been designed so the vehicle was on top of the liquid fuel tanks instead of on the side they wouldn't have to contend with all of this shit falling off and impacting the shuttle.
I weld Titanium almost every day. I find it's almost as easy to TIG weld as stainless steel, never tried any other welding process though, heard it wasn't much fun. You can also weld it to steel or stainless steel which surprised me. I like working with it (fabricator), but it does tend to need alot of persuading to get into form. As far as panel beating is concerned, anything will come back into shape, you just have to beat the piss out of it hard enough. I think people tend to lend it too much credit than it really warrents concerning strength. It IS strong and it IS light, but it ISN'T as indestructable mechanically as they like to think. Was the tooling for machining pretty expensive compared to alloy or most steels? Like diamond bits?
I use water injection on my 383ci V8 with a 6/71 GM roots type blower. The blowers output is increased for dragracing (via changing pulley ratios) and in order to not have to retard the timing I use water injection. It's quite amasing how far advanced you can make it go without knocking. For street driving the pulley ratio is reduced to more humane levels and the water injection not used. The timing resorts back to its previous map.

Would you like to give us some examples?
That's exactly right.

They spend most of their time feeding on the ground.
New Zealand has two species of native bats, would they count as mammals?
I think he was just waxing over the typo the GP did. Tb (terabit) instead of TB (terabyte)

Plus the US has a fairly minimal social welfare system, true? NZ and Aussie have quite an extensive welfare system, too extensive by many accounts.

Perhaps he was trying to head off inquiries into human rights abuses by quickly claiming senatorial immunity.

Damn straight it'll fail! If it doesn't then I'm gonna throw a few chairs to underline the point!

I do believe something just went over your head.

I laughed my arse off reading this, very nicely put.
Perhaps removing that reason that makes them want to harm you might help a bit.

Gotta love the D-lusion website Rubberduck product blurb "It is like fucking a hot hollywood bitch for the price of a corner crack slut"
