I believe the Westland Wasp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westland_Wasp uses negative collective pitch to enable the helicopter to stick to the deck until it able to be lashed to the deck. I think the Merlin also has that feature. Very useful in heavy seas.

It would also be good in a modified form for scuba divers. Depth, temperature, ascent rate, gas, bottom time, among other instrumentation would be very useful in a HUD. Perhaps 3D mapping as well for navigation around dive sites. We were actually discussing this on holiday in Dahab. Currently, wrist mounted dive computers are used for this sort of thing.

Just because we don't have 15 aircraft carriers as the result of overspending on defence like the U.S. doesn't mean that we can't project power. It's not power on the scale of the U.S. granted but we have other priorities and far less GDP to play with.

Three aircraft carriers and supporting oilers, supply ships, and troop landing craft all add to it, and are enough to project power enough to defend our interests.

The reason we're getting new carriers, is because the others will be phased out as the new ones come in. So it's not because we don't have enough carriers.

I am not sure why you're bringing nukes into this, they aren't launched by carrier so if you can't win an argument without bringing in irrelevancies I suggest you don't join in at all.

Er... excuse me. Britain currently has three aircraft carriers which I think you'll agree has allowed us to project power for at least the last 25 years. Falkland Islands anyone?

Use www.onetel.co.uk for cheap telephone calls - they even allow you to use their service for mobile phones if you register the number with them. Use dual fuel utilities or use a search engine to find the cheapest offers.

Pay everything by direct debit from one (joint?) bank account that everyone pays a standard amount in to every month. Put someone you trust in charge of it all.

Use thick quilts/blankets and turn off the heat at night.

Draught excluders. Rugs (if you have hard floors). Close the curtains or get some if you dont have any and use blinds as well. Get a curtain for the front and back door.

I am not exactly in favour of the Americans controlling everything. (I'm British) But in this particular case the Internet is a success story. It seems like the one really FREE place on Earth, where everyone has an equal say and potential to generate fame/fortune/whatever based on merit. Thanks to Google and other search engines it's all word of mouth (or print).

If it isn't broken don't fix it...

Sometimes it's not feasible to upgrade to SP2. For instance, once installed, my computer seems to hang on startup just after the icons appear and will not respond. After about 5 minutes it is reponsive. I tried uninstalling SP2 and reinstalling and the same behaviour happened. If you remember back when SP2 came out a lot of companies held off installing it because it was a such a huge change to a whole network of PCs. This will happen in the future with other updates.

I'm British and wouldn't mind working in the U.S. for a while.

    Thanks!
